Power CPAP via USB

Post by bigtruck1369 » Thu Apr 25, 2019 9:42 am

Since I typically have multiple items on my nightstand that utilize USB for power and charging, I wanted to see if there was an accessory that would allow me to run my Resmed Airsense 10 off of a multi-port USB charger. I reached out to their customer service (via Twitter) to ask and they told me that there are 3rd party adapters available. I haven't found anything in my initial searches since, so I thought that I would ask here to see if anyone else has found a solution like this.

I have reached back out to ResMed customer Service to confirm that they understood what I was asking and that there isn't currently any risk to the machine by doing so and make this a feature/product request.

Thank you!

Further data may be needed.
Most of the USB ports I have seen provide less than 1 amp.
The Dreamstation Go has a USB port on its case, to charge your phone, etc,
This means the power going in needs to be greater than that.
Outlook is dim, IMO.

And further, they're at 5 volts... so, 5 watts.

CPAP power supplies are usually in the range of 90 watts for a heated humidifier/heated hose combo.

Even without that, the machine needs 20-30 watts.

USB-C could theoretically do it.

There isn’t. No type of USB port can supply 24V DC.

USB-C can supply 20 volts at 5 amps, or 100 watts. That is within the capabilities of a small boost converter, and enough power for a CPAP.
