Cleaning the P30i pillow filter?
Cleaning the P30i pillow filter?
Had anyone managed to pop out the filter in the nasal pillow piece for cleaning? It's hard plastic and i'm afraid it might crack and not go back together well. I notice black dots in it this morning. Don't have a spare at the moment.

The ResMed p30i cleaning instructions and video suggest the filter doesn't come off.

Consider a water pic or similar pressure water jet.
- Take the cushion off the frame as per disassembly instructions.
- Soak the cushion in warm water and a mild liquid detergent, and ensure there are no air bubbles while soaking.
- Hand wash the cushion with a soft bristle brush, paying extra attention to the vent holes.
- Rinse the cushion thoroughly under running tap water.
- Shake the cushion to remove excess water.
- Leave the cushion to air dry away from direct sunlight.

I use the P30i and have had the vent diffuser out. Just stretch the soft silicone away from it and it will pop out. Be sure to make note of the orientation. The hard plastic filter and the soft silicone both have notches and tabs that need to match up when you put it back in. It seems fairly solid, and it is a lot easier to clean the inside side when it has been taken out. I did see a video where it was taken out, but can't find it now.

How do you deal with the whistling sound the p30i makes?

Re: Cleaning the P30i pillow filter?
I get a little whistling from the top of my head but not as much as my previous mask. I find if I position it so the outgoing air does not hit anything, it makes less noise. I have a 2nd pillow for sitting up that I leave there so I push it back or just slide down in the bed.
Re: Cleaning the P30i pillow filter?
Thanks all but that's not where/what I'm trying to do. The front of the hard plastic piece looks like there is a small plastic piece that holds the filter in place. There are tabs that I'm hoping I can pry off. But I'm afraid they will snap, leaving me with a broken piece over the holiday week. If I don't think I can get it off I'll try to soak the whole thing in vinegar but am not sure if that is good for the silicon.

Vinegar is fine for plastics and silicon. If you have trouble with any residua smells use lemon juice instead.

Ok, I figured out what you meant and popped the hard plastic piece out. I managed to wiggle the filter out of it and soaked in vinegar solution and running water. The filter has black spots where the holes are in the hard plastic piece. So I think I need to replace that asap.garlford wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 2:37 pmI use the P30i and have had the vent diffuser out. Just stretch the soft silicone away from it and it will pop out. It's just the dirt that comes out of your lungs... even if it was *gasp* the allegedly evil black mold... all the air is blowing *away* from you through that filter.Spot123 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:05 pmOk, I figured out what you meant and popped the hard plastic piece out. Dunno,
It might also just be stuff that made it through your cpap filters... they don't catch everything.
I have an AB filter inline with the hose, to further reduce allergens, even though I have a hypoallergenic filter on the cpap. the AB filter still ends up turning dark over time while it catches things the cpap filter missed.
Either way, the little dirty spots on the diffuser filter aren't anything to be worried about.

Re: Cleaning the P30i pillow filter?
When I got my P30i, my provider suggested removing the filter part before cleaning as he felt the filter sometimes didn’t dry completely by the end of the day and it was easier to clean the inside of the mask without it there. I worry a bit that the daily reinsertion of this may reduce the life of the mask due to the stretching needed, so sometimes I remove, sometimes I don’t.

Daily wipe you mask cushion with a baby wipe no need to dismantle and clean the mask daily. Do a full clean weekly the mask will last 7 times longer.Locatino wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:25 amWhen I got my P30i, my provider suggested removing the filter part before cleaning as he felt the filter sometimes didn’t dry completely by the end of the day and it was easier to clean the inside of the mask without it there. Just ran across the Resmed video for removing the diffuser filter from the P30i:

Also Jason (LankyLefty) did a review of the Airfit P30i on youtube:

If you look closely, it looks like he has removed the fiber pad from the diffuser.
