CPAP ADP ONTARIO process

Post by jingo » Fri Feb 28, 2020 8:12 pm

Hey guys, i was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea so i was given a trial by this company (NOT SURE IF I CAN POST THE NAME) that is located in toronto... the machine is Fisher & paykel Auto (which i liked ) its an APAP but classified as a cpap by OHIP ADP... and the gentleman that i was dealing with told me i cant get this specific one and the doctor will write a final prescription for a specific machine (apparently i have no say in the brand :? ) and i would have to pay for a mask and tube on top of the 25% the client pays for the machine since OHIP ADP pays the rest (%75)...

So my questions, Can they charge me for a mask and tube ? because i thought it was supposed to come with it...
and can the Doc really force me to buy a specific brand ?... if not then i would either go with fisher & paykel auto or rAirSense 10 AutoSet for Her (since both are technically APAP's but classified as cpap by OHIP ADP)

The ADP 75% coverage should include a basic mask and hose.

Having said that, if you want a heated hose or different mask you can be charged extra. If you have private insurance it should cover most of what ADP doesn't cover.

If you can, avoid the the F&P.

You really want the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her. It is a quality machine, supported by OSCAR, and very popular her. Likely the most recommended machine on the forums. Do not let the for Her branding put you off.

When I started, I pushed for the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her, best move I made.

Post whatever name etc. you like - no problem at all and very helpful here... without those there wouldn't be much point in this forum.

Be very careful. I kept being told that I could only buy one of their 'packages' which needed to include the SD card and upgraded mask. It somehow came to $1800, of which Ontario picked up $700 and my insurance picked up the rest.

An absolute ripoff. I have never gone back to that place! In fact, they keep calling me for 6 month 'supplies' followups.

Maybe you should name these places so the person won't get ripped off.
