SoClean and Coronavirus question
SoClean and Coronavirus question
Please bear with me with this possible dumb question. With this coronavirus issue, can i put my cell phone inside my SoClean machine along with my mask when I run the a cycle of the Soclean? Will this damage either the Soclean and/or my cell phone?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
It also damages your cpap.
Notice the icky yellow tint on your mask?
Guess what did that.
What you cannot see is what ozone can do to electronics.
Don't expect your warranty to cover THAT.
Also not good for your lungs.
Viruses are tough, though.
Chances are they will come out of it perfectly fine.

Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
There are dozens of materials that are incompatible with Ozone and break down at an accelerated rate when exposed to it.
Just Google Ozone Compatibility, you'll find dozens of lists.
https://www.spartanwatertreatment.com/o ... chart.html
This is why ResMed does not recommend SoClean and other ozone based sanitizers and are voiding warranties when damage has been done from them. They know the materials within their devices and have observed damage.
There might be components within your phone that are not compatible with Ozone.
Human lungs should be added to the incompatible list.

you'd be best off using an ultraviolet cleaner for your phone. here-

Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
Put the phone in there, though I don't know if it's good for the phone.
It's certainly NOT good for your cpap or mask.

The mask, the cell phone, your XPAP, and lungs may be damaged, however the Dirt will be almost a dirty as it was before you used the So No-Clean. Jim

Although not phones, this article says it is good for sterilizing coronavirus masks.

Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
An ultraviolet cleaner such as the lumib is safer for your phone. Ozone basically kills by oxidizing, uv (specifically uvc) kills by disrupting DNA and rna.
As far as your xpap goes, neither replaces cleaning. But phones are allergic to water so i understand your concern.
A big disadvantage of uvc is it only works where the light directly shines on an object. A transparent hose, for example, is not sterilized because it is not transparent to uvc.

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
While it's interesting reading, the meat of the matter doesn't say anything about actual sterilization of the masks. From the article "...I have tested the SoClean machine to see if it would sterilize without damaging used n95 masks or cloth masks. By all clinical criteria, the process is functional. The contaminated mask was cleansed and when removed it definitely had the pungent chlorine smell with a metallic twist that is associated with ozone and sterilized products. Additionally, it also caused no damage to the functional usage of the mask"Ldempke wrote: ↑Tue Jun 16, 2020 5:13 pmAlthough not phones, this article says it is good for sterilizing coronavirus masks.

They seem to be using the sniff test (chlorine smell with a metallic twist that is associated with ozone & sterilized products) which I don't think is considered definitive for efficacy. They did not say anything about putting a contaminated mask in and testing afterwards and finding elimination of the virus. It's a pity because would like to know if the home generators can do a sufficient job of virus destruction on respiratory masks.
I did spend around $30 for one of the battery powered ozone generators. I put it and a mask inside a ziploc bag and run a cycle or two. I let it sit overnight and remove the mask from the bag and let it air out a day or two (I have at least 6 cloth masks that I rotate through). By the time I get back around to it, it's been sitting out for 3~4 days so any ozone should have dissipated. I'm willing to replace the ziploc bags as needed if they show signs of ozone damage. I do know that none of my cpap stuff is even in the same room as the generator.
While I understand that hospital grade ozone sterilization is way beyond my capabilities, I'm hoping that the generator will create sufficient ozone to do some damage to any virus particles in my masks. I've got enough health liabilities that I'm trying to at least even out the playing field somewhat.

Over time, do not expect the elastic to hold up.
Ozone destroys it.
Will we EVER stop hearing nonsense about NOclean?

Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
So much easier to just wipe down your phone, take 15 secs and also gets rid of all the oils and grime left behind as well. SoClean does not clean/sterilize under the grime

Re: SoClean and Coronavirus question
I am using the 59S Sterilizer for my keys, credit cards, phone, eyeglasses and Coved mask. I wash my mask weekly and sterilize it after wearing 2-3 times. It takes just 3 minutes. It's not large enough for CPAP equipment, but I rarely clean that stuff anyway.
