adding oxygen directly to my Resmed Cpap

Post by Alisaundra » Sat Apr 11, 2020 8:00 pm

Hi
I just received my Resmed ClimateLineAir Oxy hose. I have hooked the Oxygen concentrator tubing to the nipple of the Resmed climatelineair oxy hose as per instructions. I have not connected the hose to the CPAP machine yet because I wanted to be sure that I'll have the Oxygen flowing through to the end that will be hooked to my mask. It is not. I don't understand. The only instructions that came with the hose is how to hook up the tubing, not how it works. Can anyone give me some input, please & thank you.

From what you are saying, the O2 is flowing our of the machine end of the hose. To feel it on the mask end, you will need to attach it to the machine.

What is it that confuses you?

You don't add oxygen to the cpap, you add oxygen to the hose, which gets carried along with the rest of the air going from the cpap to the mask.

one end of the o2 hose connects to the output of the o2 concentrator. the other end of the hose connects to the cpap hose or connector you're talking about. the o2 has to get to the cpap hose. once the o2 is going from the concentrator to the cpap hose and both are turned on, the mixture will combine and go to the mask. you will feel no difference between the air with o2 and the air without o2. there is no big pressure jump or anything. don't overthink this, it's easy.

Very good, I also adjust the O2 flpw rate with the XPAP on, not that I think it really makes a difference. Jim

It doesn't make any difference, the O2 concentrator is very low flow, but high pressure (on the order of 25+PSI), the cpap is high flow, low pressure a tiny fraction of 1 PSI.
