i have temp setting at 86, machine still blowing cold air. i had 2 heated tubes replaced, had cpap machine replaced and i cant make it work. i attach correctly, hear click , but still cold air. basically if i use regular tube or heated tube, it makes no difference in temp. anyone know how this heated tube is suppose to work? My room temp is 74. my hme (apria) not helping me while they keep billing insurance company every month. resmed telling me to talk to hme. please help

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
The heated tube is not meant to heat the air you receive. It heats the walls of the tube to fight condensation when using your humidifier. If you have the humidifier turned up and the room is cool water will condense in the tubing and drip to the lowest point. Eventually it can wake you up with the gurgling noise that it makes from the air rushing past it. That’s what the heated tube tries to prevent.resmedsucks wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 9:12 pmi have temp setting at 86, machine still blowing cold air. i had 2 heated tubes replaced, had cpap machine replaced and i cant make it work. i attach correctly, hear click , but still cold air. basically if i use regular tube or heated tube, it makes no difference in temp. anyone know how this heated tube is suppose to work? If you want to warm the air, put water in your humidifier and and either put it on auto, or start with a low setting and move it up until you find your sweet spot. Auto gets too hot for my taste. I end up with condensation on my face and inside the mask.
Good luck, lots of trial and error, but eventually you will get there. Just don’t give up.

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
my humidifier for airsense 10 does not have auto setting. it is off or 1-8. if humidifier suppose to heat tube, it is not doing it. tube feels cold and air feels cold. heated tube or regular tube no difference as far as feel of tubes or air that coming out. Sergio from Resmed told me air that coming out should feel warm. i understand i am not going to get 86 F but i am not getting anything even close to it. not even 70, just cold air
Re: heated tube for airsense 10
Take a look at the manual
https://www.respshop.com/manuals/ResMed ... %20her.pdf
Your machine does indeed have an "auto" option for humidity. Right now if you see setting choices 1 - 8....it's on "manual" but it does have an auto option.
Now as to why the heated hose isn't cranking out warmer air.....it won't ever "feel" warm to touch your skin because your skin is body temp 98.6. Anything less will simply feel cooler. The most it will give and is 86 degrees and that simply won't "feel" warm to your skin.
You need to get a thermometer and stick it in the end of the hose where the air is coming out (where you would have the mask attached) and check the temp with a thermometer of some sort that will digitally show the temp.
If repeated changes of the heated hose won't show 86 degrees (if that is what you have it set for) then the problem is in the until itself.
It wouldn't be impossible for the unit to have a connection problem at the junction where the heated hose attaches and within the blower itself. Highly unlikely but not impossible.
You do need to use something to measure the air temp beside your hand though.

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
What Pugsy said.
I have the same setup as you, and while my tube feels warm on occasion right after I power up, for the most part it feels cool. I know it’s working because I don’t get woken up during the night with the dreaded gurgle and have to drain the tube.
I keep my humidifier on manual at a setting of 2 because I don’t like the warm air. I like it humidified, but not warm. The auto setting makes the air too hot and increases the humidity to the point that it condenses on my face and mask. That’s not good for face farts.
But everyone is different. If you like warm humid air, then by all means, crank it up, or set it on auto.

If your Climate Control doesn't have the "Auto" setting:
- You don't have a heated hose
- Your heated hose isn't plugged in (properly)
- Your heated hose isn't working anymore
- Your heated hose connection on the AirSense isn't working properly

i am on my second airsense, 1st i had for 2 months, 2nd was delivered yesterday. i am on my second heated tube. with latest delivered week ago. all i do i plug it in and hear click. i see temp on machine at 86 F. so you telling me i have to ask for 3rd machine? or ask apria to come to my house and see it for themselves? and i tell them there is no auto so heated tube not working?
Re: heated tube for airsense 10
It's the menu choice for humidifier or I think it might be shown as "climate control"...in the menu choices
page 11
Yours likely shows manual which means you can manually select the humidity setting (those 1 through 8 choices) and then you get hose temp setting separately. This is what is offered when the heated hose is attached. It won't be offered if the heated hose is not attached.
I mention this because I have had people tell me that "I have the heated hose and I don't see those choices" only to find out they have the heated hose detached because they are cleaning it.
I know this because I use the same machine and I have used both automatic setting and the manual setting. The options are there.
I prefer to go the manual mode because I like a little more moisture than auto climate control will give and then I use a higher hose temp to prevent rain out. Even at 86 degrees (and I know it is working) it doesn't feel all that warm most of the time.
And it takes a few minutes of running before it does warm up which is why the warm up feature is available if needed.
If you just start the machine and immediately feel the air...it's going to for sure be cold. It just can't warm up that fast.
To change "climate control" you have to be in the clinical setup menu area and you have to push the round button to highlight that setting and then you can turn the knob to change it.

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
No, I am not telling you to ask for a 3rd machine at this point. These things rarely fail. I think that you are expecting to feel something that you aren't ever going to feel. The person that told you that the hose should feel warm to the touch....they told you wrong.
I think you need to use a thermometer to verify the hose air temp (about 10 minutes after running the machine) and see for sure what hose air temp is being delivered.
It's never going to feel all that warm to touch or to your skin. Your own body temp is 98.6...anything less than that will feel cool. Simple physics really.

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
Get the free clinical manual. (Instructions above)
Read it. All of it. Pretend there will be a quiz.
Some settings are in the "clinical" menu.
The only time a heated hose will feel noticeably warm is when it is about to ignite.
You do not want that.

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
auto setting is for climate control, so if i set it to auto i get cold air no matter how long i run machine
if i set climate control to manual, i can adjust humidity level from 1 to 8, but no matter what setting are i sill get cold air regardless how long machine is running
it sounds like this whole heated tube concept is nothing more that misleading concept. basically it has nothing to do with warm air it is all about condensation. i do not get condensation when i use heated tube. but tube is heavier, not producing warm air. so why do i care about condensation? regular tube is easier to use. and it is blowing same cold air.
also i have no clinical setup on my machine. is it possible hme disable it?

Re: heated tube for airsense 10
"Cold" air is relative.
You are expecting "warm" air.
You will never get it.
Moving air feels cooler than it really is.
You are not used to cpap yet, and that will take a while.
It did for all of us.
