Lumin UV hose cleaner
Am I correct in understanding that the Lumin UV hose cleaner is incompatible with the ResMed heated hoses? I am assuming it' because the 'bullet' diameter is too large, no? Thanks, and stay safe.

Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
You are correct. But it's not the diameter. One end has the angle connector while the other end has a small protrusion that partially blocks it. That protrusion is how temperature is sensed... kinda important.
Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.
Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
And besides - why are you cleaning the hose? Is it dirty? Most of us don't ever do it unless we're aware of an actual problem... after all, nothing much goes through it but air, or are you talking about some other hose?

Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
I use a hose hanger to manage the hose, and hang my mask up in the daytime.
I replace my hose every couple of years or so.
Washing is not needed unless . . . OCD.

Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
Thanks, khauser, for the confirmation. I normally don't clean the home hose, but when I have to travel for business (as I did last week, to a heavily smoke-plagued area) I would consider it. And you don't know what's been in those hotel rooms!
In all honesty, it was more curiosity than anything else.

Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
You know in this situation...I don't blame you for thinking a bit about a little extra cleaning.
In fact if at all possible ...if it were me and I could do without the heated hose part...I might use a cheap generic hose and toss it or just soak in some sort of good smelling disinfectant stuff.
Especially if the hose absorbs much smoke odor like in the fire areas and the odor bugged me. It's hard to get some odors out of the hoses despite all we might do. Not so worried about bugs/germs floating around in the air because those are easily killed but when silicone absorbs odors....sometimes impossible to get out.

Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
One thing you are incorrect with is that it is, in any way, shape, form or fashion, a "cleaner". it doesn't, and cannot, "clean" anything with UV light, all it can do is degrade the plastics.

And maybe have a minor detrimental effect on BACTERIA--like make them a bit woozy.
No effect whatsoever on oil, dirt, or VIRUSES.

The use of ultraviolet light systems is becoming more widely used in healthcare facilities for disinfecting patient and operating rooms. ... UV-C is also used in night time cleaning of laboratories and meat packing facilities. Another term used for UV-C disinfection is Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI).

Do we need to wear Hazmat suits when using it?
Re: Lumin UV hose cleaner
No hazmat suits. UV light has been used for years in the medical setting for disinfection . I will kill the bad gays quite effectively but thatere you want to potentially sanitize with UV light still has to have any grease, grime, oils, etc manually rood. If you idea of cleaning means removal the gunk and not nuking the gunk.

The best plan is to use conventional means to remove what is possible.Pugsy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 9:33 pmNo hazmat suits. UV light has been used for years in the medical setting for disinfection . Then use UV to zap what you missed.
I use a UV hearing aid conditioner--but I still have to CLEAN the aid--and my ears!
