Lightest and most flexible tubing?
Lightest and most flexible tubing?
I'm looking for replacement tubing for my Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto machine. The original heated tubing is annoyingly stiff and heavy. The rubber ends are the heaviest. I'm a very active sleeper and the hose is always pulling on my mask and forcing me to make mask adjustments many times a night. I never use heat so I don't need heated tubing. What's the lightest and most flexible replacement hose on the market?

Have you ever seen/tried the ResMed non heated slimline hose?

I use a heated hose, but you can increase the flexibility of a hose by putting it in the clothes dryer for a minute or two. (credit palerider)

respironics white performance tubing is my favorite, if you don't need a heated hose.

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
I've never used a slimline or light hose of any sort. Just the heated hoses that came with my machines, Phillips System One and now Resmed Vauto. Also just picked up a Breas Z2 for travel. Just wondering which replacement hoses are out there that are super light and very flexible.

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
Not a direct placement but you could consider a hose manager
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034CHMRU/
And add a very flexible short hose at the end of original hose

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
That's often a sign if inadequately treated sleep apnea.
Like this friend of mine who had a reputation for somehow managing to turn the sheets and blankets 90 degrees on her bed at night, now, after getting a properly adjusted CPAP... her sheets are where she left them when she wakes up in the morning.

The new one is too "eager" to drape nicely on my fishing pole.

I don't see why not, however, I haven't tried it.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 7:01 amCan I do that to a heated hose?palerider wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 11:42 pmMy CPAP hose is no longer happy to see me... :cough:Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 6:34 pmI use a heated hose, but you can increase the flexibility of a hose by putting it in the clothes dryer for a minute or two. I'd try on an older one, and see if it worked fine. might wrap the ends in a sock or something just for a bit of added padding. esp the end that fits on the machine.

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
Yes unresolved sleep problem. Very active all night, end up in odd positions while I sleep. Wake every half hour to hour on my back when apnea is severe. Have to untangle and readjust everything when I wake. AHI is under 1 most nights. Leaks are low. Have not been able to figure it out with help of three different doctors over the last 8 years. It may be that I just don't tolerate cpap very well. I have to use it even though it doesn't seem like it helps much. So exhausted every day of my life unless I can sleep for 12 hours to make up the deficit. Cpap probably helps more than I realize.
I have done the hose in the dryer trick. The weight of the hose is bothersome also. Just going to get a different hose. Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
If I had one of those hose managers I'd probably end up hung from it with the workout I do in my sleep. I'd probably make the news with that one. Cpap kills guy.

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
Thanks for that link. The Sleepweaver Feather Weight hose looks great. It doesn't have those heavy rubber ends, maybe it does, hard to tell from the photo. Wish it was long and not just 1.5ft

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
You can chain them up BUT the couplers add weight.
Take a look at this thread

I went with the least expensive option. But the HoZer and the CHRALS look to have enough flex and freedom of movement to alleviate the problem.
The HoZer looks like how chunkyfrog describes her system.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:55 pmMy broken fishing rod, swivel plant hanger, and duck tape device

Re: Lightest and most flexible tubing?
My hose hanger does not resemble the HoZer in any way!
It mounts on the wall next to the bed about 6 feet off the floor.
It takes up NO space on shelf or table.
The swivel is a WALL-MOUNTED bracket, with a swivel arm extending about a foot long..
The fishing rod is taped to the swivel arm; and the hose hangs from elastic bands
looped through three of the eyelets.
The tip of the fishing rod describes an arc over the bed with a 4 foot radius
Sorry, no picture--after photobucket burned me, no more pictures.
Suffice it to say, my sytem is far more flexible than any commercial product.
