ResMed biPAP machine options???

Post by Sevendayslumber » Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:51 pm

I just had a BiPAP titration. 12/6 will be my settings. Formerly, I was on 9cm H2O CPAP and used an Airsense10 auto.

Is there only one, most current model, ResMed biPAP machine available, or are there more?

I want to make the best possible decision. From what I’ve read, Aircurve 10 is the current one.

Thanks in advance.

Resmed doesn't make anything called a "bipap", that's like going to the ford stealership and asking for a Lexus.

There are five very different BILEVEL machines in the Resmed Aircurve lineup.

What you mentioned, 12/6, would only require a an Aircuve 10 S model, but I'd recommend the VAuto, because you'll probably want to switch to an auto machine.

Here's a list: wiki/index.php/CPAP_models

You’re right. I agree, that’s the one for me. Thanks for the comparison chart.

I think I'm all set to get the AirCurve 10VAuto bilevel machine tomorrow. I set my pressure on my current one from 9 to 11 and slept through two nights straight without waking up, and it was WONDERFUL!!!

Should I expect any adjustment period transitioning to bilevel? If so, what? How long?

Congrats on the good nights! You can set your VAuto to mimic the settings on your Airsense 10 Autoset, so in that sense you can engineer a completely smooth transition. What changes you make to your settings will depend on what the reason is for changing machines. Do you need more pressure support, for example? Or is there some other affordance of the VAuto you will be tapping? And what settings were identified as optimal in the titration?

I will soon replace my VAUTO

What is the card to cloud model since the other option also seems to include an SD card ?

Sorry, I did see that & should have mentioned it.

I may be missing something obvious - but:

How is ResMed going to get my information?

My Sleep Doc used to just get my info online from ResMed.
Do I now have to go back to bringing them my SD Card?

My wife and I both got new AirCurve 10 VAUTO machines on Wednesday, and both machines have telephone modems in them, The serial numbers indicate they were manufactured in 2022. They also had the ResMed SD cards in them.

Here’s what ResMed says:

https://ap.resmed.com/knowledge/does-my ... nsmit-data
The poorly named "card to cloud" doesn't have the cell modems referenced in that article in them.

AS I see it:
You have to get the card-to-cloud model to get an SD Card as the other model does not have an SD Card.
An SD card is necessary to get my nightly stats into the ResMed Software or Oscar.
If you don't have an SD Card, you can only access the minimal info sent to ResMed

Why did ResMed decide to have 2 Models of the VAuto?

Would like to hear Pros & Cons of both models from those of you who are more familiar with them.

You can use a SD card from WalMart....doesn't have to come with the machine and for sure doesn't need to be a ResMed branded SD card.

As far as I know all the models have a slot available for any SD card use.

SD card from WalMart is what I am using.

Great to hear from you. It has been quite a while since I have been here.
Thanks for your input.

I have gotten several SD Cards from my DME over the years. Think I still have 3 that have never been used.

My concern was that the other model of the AirCurve 10 VAuto (Not the card-to-cloud model) did Not have an SD Card Slot.
In a chat with cpap.com, they said it didn't.

If that model DOES have an SD Card slot, that may be the 1 to get - since the cellular connection keeps me from having to bring my SD card to DME.
Although the card-to-cloud model allows me to have more control over who sees my data & keeps them from changing any settings I don't agree with.
I always bring a cloned SD Card to DME & erase it when I get home - to make sure they can't change something (via the SD Card).

I wasn't aware that there was any model (AirSense 10 or AirCurve) that didn't have a slot for the SD card.

I am not so sure I would believe what the cpap.com person told you.
Even the Card to Cloud AirSense 10 has a slot.

I also can't find any Card to Cloud model at all in the AirCurve line.
