Re: Celebrity CPAP Users?
A better question is, (and this should start something?) is what celebrities do we THINK should use a cpap? I can start one long list...........haha.

Question Revision
Ok - I'll start. I think Rush Limbaugh looks like he probably needs one. Also that girl dating Tom Cruise!
There was one poor celebrity on CPAP who had a terrible time. Seems he could never get a mask that worked for any length of time as they kept breaking on him. The manufacturers were caught up in an unusual situation that was becoming too costly to honour their warranties. They had to replace the masks two or three time a week and with shipping charges, defective mask investigation and all the bad press they simply could not afford to keep this up.
The whole affair was turned over to their legal department, who of course set out to sue anyone still breathing freely, with any assets at all and even remotely connected to the celebrity involved.
The legal eagle's investigation turned up none other than the celebrity's own father, a shoe magnate in Italy who had nothing but disdain for American health care providers. Apparently he blamed them for his son's costly diagnoses and outrageous pricing of the prescribed medical equipment. There was even suggestion of Mafia connections to get back at certain medical equipment retailers perceived to be gouging patients and their insurance companies at a rate never contemplated by organized crime.
Nevertheless, truth and the American way prevailed as authorities determined that the celebrity's father, indeed, was responsible for the continual mask breakage. The constant interrogation of his son was deemed to be the deciding factor in determining his guilt. Giuseppe was found guilty of harassment with the ongoing barrage of questions as to which evil DME was responsible. Pinoccio, who was taking kickbacks, just kept insisting that DME's were not evil!

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

All the accounts of Reggie's passing that I read quoted the Medical Examiner as saying: "Sleep Apnea MAY have been a contributing factor...". Does anyone know if he had actually been diagnosed with OSA or was on CPAP therapy? Several of the articles following up the story of his death mentioned that OSA is a serious concern for NFL players, both active & retired, particularly linemen.
“The best cure for insomnia is to get a lot of sleep.â€
update on old item - "he wasn't wearing his mask."
Did anyone notice the article in USA Today last week on Reggie White's induction into the Footbal Hall of Fame? If you wondered about his apnea issues and why they credited his death to that, here's a quote from Sara White, his widow.
"Reggie, whose community work and religious expressions were perhaps as large as his dominance as one of football's greatest defensive ends, died at his home near Charlotte on the morning of Dec. 26, 2004. He suffered a respiratory attack caused by sleep apnea, a breathing disorder, compounded by sarcoidosis of the heart, an inflammatory disease. He was 43.
"He didn't wear his mask," Sara says. "That's why he had the attack."
...pretty compelling testimony for those naysayers and whiners who can't be bothered with xPAP.
