Tape Users: Drooling tape off?
I always knew I was a drooler, just not this bad!
I recently switched over to settings that make it much harder for me to keep my mouth closed. I have run through multiple chin straps and discovered that my lips still burst open in little puffs.
So I switched to painter's tape. It works great ... until I drool it loose! When I put it on, my lips are firmly pressed together, but evidently I still leak.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

THat happened to me with painters tape, too. Now I use 3M Medipore cloth tape and it works great.

I've been doing well with the painters tape so far, it's stopped my drooling for the most part. You may want to switch to a wider tape to see if that keeps it from falling off/open.Naranjadia wrote:I always knew I was a drooler, just not this bad!

I use 2 inch wide painter's tape, 8-10 inches long - but no matter what I do, some nights I'm fine, other nights the drool occurs. Fortunately, the leaks are controlled....
I tried medical tape, just too much adhesive for me.

Re: Tape Users: Drooling tape off?
Thank you all so much. I will try the Medipore tape. I may also try a wider painters tape, since I think I have 1.5" right now.
Re: Tape Users: Drooling tape off?
I use 3M Micropore - 1"w x app 2½'L - then tape it vertically.(under the nose, over the lips, on the chin)

Try 2" blue #2080 painter's tape by 3M. Use a 10" strip and fold the ends down for "handles".
Re: Tape Users: Drooling tape off?
When I used 1" tape, the occasional drool popped it open. I now use 2" wide Nexcare Gentle Paper tape. It's a little too wide, so I do cut about a 1/4" strip off -- this makes it wide enough to contain any drool, yet not cover too much skin around my mouth. I also fold one end onto itself for an easy removal handle in the morning. Although I absolutely love the amount of adhesion it has (sticks well, yet comes off easily without ripping any skin), it is more expensive than painter's tape. Since it's made for skin, though, it's worth the price to me. Keep trying the different tapes till you find the right thing for you. Good luck!

Re: Tape Users: Drooling tape off?
I taped for a year with 2" and later, just 1" painters tape. For me, the key was to roll my lips completely between my teeth ("granny mouth?"). It feels a little uncomfortable at first, but within a half hour, your lips will roll out again a bit, yet are more tightly together under the tape. Just be sure to really seal the tape firmly on your face.
I'm another one who found the micropore adhesive to be too much. The goo it left on my face was a real pain (literally) to remove in the mornings.

Re: Tape Users: Drooling tape off?
Try sucking your lips in hard through your teeth before you tape. When you relax your lips after you tape, you'll find that your lips make kind of a drool-proof barrier, which is far more comfortable than just trying to get sufficiently wide tape to corral the drool that gets through.
