Tingling in head, face and arms!

Post by newyorknative » Wed Jan 19, 2011 1:25 pm

For the last month I have been having an off and on problem with tingling in my hands and arms, and at times burning in my feet. It seems to be worse at night will trying to drift off to sleep. It sometimes will even wake me up from sleep. Anyone else have anything like this? Any thoughts. The tingling comes and goes.

Have you talked to your doctor about it? That's definitely where I'd start! If it's enough to wake you up at night, you really should get checked out by a doctor IMO.

I don't mean to scare you, but tingling in the head, face and arms COULD be a cardiac symptom. That's not to say it IS a cardiac symptom, but just that this should be checked out immediately, just in case.

There are not a lot of sensory nerves to your heart, so pain because of cardiac issues is "referred pain" (meaning it's felt elsewhere in your body) and exactly how it is felt can vary from person to person.

You should contact your doctor and arrange to be seen ASAP.

You really need to see your doctor. Have you had your thyroid checked?

I don't think it's a cardiac problem, but could be diabetes. Do get your blood sugar checked.

It also could be Sensory Peripheral Neuropathy. I have it in legs and feet. It's worse at night, especially while trying to sleep. The minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium support the nerves and lessen the symptoms. My whole body felt on fire and tingled before taking the minerals mentioned above. HOWEVER!... I'm not a medical professional, and only speaking from personal experience.

Folks, rather than diagnosing NY Native, let's all encourage him to see a DOCTOR who is qualified to make the diagnosis.

Just talked to doc on phone this afternoon. My blood tests came back. Blood sugar is normal. He is not real concerned because the symptoms come and go. He thinks it may be stress related. Thyroid normal range. Going back to see him in 2 weeks. Thanks. Gary

Each day I take 99mg of potassium, 750mg magnesium, and 1200mg calcium citrate containing vitamin D3. Be careful with the magnesium: start out with a lower dose (I spread the dose out over the day.) Magnesium causes diarrhea if the amt. is above your bowel tolerance.

I'm on a budget and get these at Wal-mart. I have not gone on line in several years to see if better quality would cost less from somewhere else.
History: Hubby has had neuropathy symptoms for many years. His feet were numb from the mid calf down and tingled. He also has RLS. He began CPAP in January '09. Six months later feeling began to return to his feet and the restless legs were not so bad. Today he experiences a little tingling at the tips of his toes. His sensory nerves have recovered fully every-where else.
Three years ago the New York Times (health section) carried an article about a study done at the National Institute of Health. Some AID's meds. cause nerve damage. These patients were given the above dose through IV. In many instances their symptoms were reversed, or prevented.
Good luck and hope this formula works for you!

I'm so glad you saw your doctor!

Another thing I thought of is that you might want to see a chiropractor. I had tingling in my hands, especially when I woke up. I would actually wake up in tears from the pain on occasion. I found out that I had pinched nerves in my neck, elbows and wrists. With some ice, some rest, and some adjustments from the chiropractor, the tingling has gone down significantly. Before this, I was NOT a person to visit a chiropractor before this happened. But I'm so glad I decided to try it this time.
