DeVilbiss DV54 AutoAdjust - Please help me figure this out

Post by CPAPcub » Sun Mar 14, 2010 8:07 am

Hi,

Thanks for all the help and advice given to me and others on this forum, it's so appreciated.

I would be grateful if you could help me please work out what is going wrong here, it's starting to do my brain in!!!

The machine smart code read-outs are fine in CPAP mode.

However, when I switch to APAP mode I am regularly getting this message:

% Days at least 4 hours 0%
Day Count 1
Days at least 4 hours 0
95th Percentile Pressure 17.0
90th Percentile Pressure 17.0
AHI 31.5
Pressure Plateau Time 31%
High Leak Flow Time 0%
NRI 0.00
EPI 31
SmartCode F7RV-FVF-VG6N
While Breathing Hours Last Day 0.9

What the heck can be going on??!! I'm sleeping OK, usually in bed for 8 hours each night. That was the message that I got last night and as far as I'm concerned I had a decent nights sleep, so the 0.9 figure for 'while breathing' is nuts. This is the about the third time that I have received this message with exactly the same data on it!!

My APAP range is set between 14-17, I'm trying to find my 'sweet spot' but am failing badly!! Usually in CPAP mode my AHI is averaging 10 and I'm tryin g to get it down to below 5. I'm using APAP mode to help me work out my optimal setting.

At my sleep study I was titrated at 14 but I've had better results at pressure's above that.

Please please help, thanks!!!

This looks to me like something to be handled by DeVilbiss.
I don't know if their rep is tracking this board on a daily basis, you may want to call their attention to this thread by PMing DeVilbiss Marketing - who registered and posted for a while.

Hi Ozij,

Thanks for the tip, I have sent PM.

Any one else out there know what the data on my report might mean, please?

I've been using my DeVilbiss machine for about 3 weeks. First week or 10 days was seeing numbers on my Quick View Menu like 8.5 AHI, 0% leak, 6.5 hours. All those seemed correct. Now I've had a week or so of obviously bogus numbers: AHI 31.5, leak 31, hours 9.5. CLEARLY incorrect (I wish I would sleep 9.5 hours!) Same numbers every day. What is wrong with this thing? As a computer programmer who spends my days tracking down and dealing with data anomalies this is driving me nuts!

Mine has done that also once in awhile. I think it has to do with the internal clock (Which I have never found a way to set). I think what is happening is it resetting as thou it was a new day in the middle of the night. I have been able to fix it by unplugging the machine and plugging it back in when I get up. I think it resets every 12 hrs.

Jmacuzo is correct. To reset the internal clock, please turn the CPAP off, unplug the CPAP, then plug it back in. It is best to do this in the evening. This will start a new session without any carry over from earlier in the day.

90th/95th Percentile pressure indicates that therapy pressure was at or below this pressure for 90- or 95-percent of its usage time. If the AutoAdjust device operates at the upper pressure setting for more than 10% of the therapy time (Pressure Plateau Time), the pressure has been railing at the upper pressure and this may be an indication the prescription setting should be increased to allow the therapy to move to a higher pressure than is currently allowed.

Please let me know if you need additional assistance.

I'm having the same exact issues, and the unplugging action does not seem to fix it. Its frustrating.

Bogus numbers

Post by lydiarosep » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:46 pm

A year ago I posted the note below about bogus readings. Soon afterward I discovered that it mattered what button I pressed to see my results! When I pressed the RIGHT arrow button to access the menu I got the bogus reading. When I pressed the LEFT arrow once, and then pressed the right arrow, I got the readings that "seemed" correct... (except for my earlier note today that complains about how the calculations are being made.

The DeVilbiss Intellipap does NOT show results via the LCD window. You must either use the SmartCode/web tool or SmartLink software to see your therapy data.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

That is not 100% True
You can see some readings from the Quick View menu including AHI. That was something they added when they added the smartflex. As my Intellipap did not have it until I upgraded the firmware

I stand corrected. Didn't know that.... I have had SmartLink since the start, but I have also viewed Smart Codes. I looked at my machine's data today on the lcd.... seemed to be accurate. I will check it against my software data.

It seems to be a day behind when I compare it to the software. Also sometimes it just has strange results all together. Have read that is a firmware bug
