Respironics System One reset
The doctor would like me on APAP all the time. I have a Phillips System One, but can only be set to CPAP Check or CPAP. How do you reset machine to factory settings.

A System One....."WHAT?" There are many models. What does yours say on top? If you don't already have an APAP, you can't turn a CPAP into an APAP.alanc151 wrote:The doctor would like me on APAP all the time. As far as I know, there are no "reset" options to configure it back to "factory" settings. The options are also too numerous.
Besides, what may work for someone else may not work for you. Factory settings are too wide open to be effective therapy.
There have been numerous posts as to where to find the setup instructions to the various machines.

Thanks for the reply, Dan. It is the System One. After 30 days set up will not allow you to set machine to A-Flex. Only options are C-Flex and CPAP.

Let's try this again.alanc151 wrote:Thanks for the reply, Dan. It is the System One. After 30 days set up will not allow you to set machine to A-Flex. Only options are C-Flex and CPAP.
Philips Respironics a/k/a PR has many different models of machine with the words "System One" in it. It's as if we asked you what make and model of car you have and you answered, "It's a Ford." Not enough information. PR model names are very confusing. Here is a link to a great explanation: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=72302
Also, C-Flex is a comfort measure associated with CPAP, not a separate type of treatment.
Do you perhaps have a PR System One REMStar Pro Auto IQ?

Remstar Pro C-Flex +
The point is, " After so many days of either A-Flex or CPAP check the machine will automatically switch to CPAP. After that you cannot, even in clinical settings, change machine back to any APAP modes. I really need a APAP machine that will stay in APAP mode all the time."

machine?DS 450AutoIQ. The PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with AutoIQ. The "fake" APAP, but at least it records full efficacy data, even after the limited 30 days of APAP is used up. This machine should say "REMstar Pro C-Flex+" near the LCD located on top of the blower unit AND it should have "AutoIQ" enclosed in a Red Box somewhere on the cream colored panel
I believe you will need a new machine if you want full-time APAP. I know of no way to Macgyver the APAP functionality to this machine after 30 days. ETA: I hadn't thought of trying to reset user hours to zero every thirty days. That might work.

It's a 460P. Guess I'll throw this one away and buy a Resmed S9

Gosh, don't throw it away! Keep it as a backup, or donate it to someone who can't afford a machine at all and only needs straight CPAP. Or sell it.alanc151 wrote:It's a 460P. Guess I'll throw this one away and buy a Resmed S9

Re: Respironics System One reset
If you indeed have the "AutoIQ" or (PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with AutoIQ) that worked for 30 nights in Auto mode and then reverted to straight CPAP mode, you CAN have the Auto mode for another 30 nights at a time by resetting the users hours back to Zero.
However, if your doctor wants you to be on APAP permanently or you don't want the hassle of resetting the user hours ever month, then you need to get a REAL APAP.......and I presume your doctor would help you get one.
Personally, I prefer the straight CPAP pressure as the pressure changes seriously disturb my sleep.

Re: Respironics System One reset
Thanks for all your help. JK about throwing xPAP away. I have positional sleep APNEA. Have tried keeping myself off my back, but with no success. Choice of setting pressure to relieve obstruction while on my back (18 cm, which has its own problems ) , or get a APAP.
APAP sounds better. I had a Resmed S9. Flow sensor went bad.
Thanks again,
Alan

Re: Respironics System One reset
With the model 460 you can reset the therapy hours to zero and you get another 30 days of APAP mode available.
I thought this was an unlimited supply of resets but someone told me today that the paperwork they have from their 460 shows it limited to 5 times....he hasn't tried a 6 th time yet to see if it still will do it or not. Hasn't had it nearly long enough.
To do the therapy reset to zero you have to enter the clinical setup menu and it's found under the "Info" box lower left of the 4 boxes.
It will get you by for a while and maybe forever...doing it in 30 day increments.
Make sure you have all your data in the software though...reset to zero erases prior therapy usage from the machine causing the machine to think it is starting all over brand new.
So you have some time to get things sorted out and maybe get a full time APAP machine.
In the Respironics PR S1 line...model 560 so you can use it with your humidifier.
Or get a S9 Autoset (avoid the Auto Escape).
