how long is usual to get sleep study results
Aloha All,
A bit frustrated that even my PCP couldn't shake specifics of my sleep study out of the sleep center today. Told her, 2-3 weeks. I know it is volumes of data from a split study, but gosh, seems like they know you need the hose, they did some titration, they ought to be able to give some meaningful, prelim recommendations to the referring doc No Rx till she has numbers and it seems like my dear husband has made it his job to ensure I don't die in my sleep by pushing on me to wake up every hour or so, ugh!!!

It's different for every lab. My daughter's were given to use before a week was over. My lab says 5-7 days

A month for mine
Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
A week to 10 days is average for the sleep lab to write up the report and send to doctor. My process went pretty quickly and I took home my machine from the DME about 16 days after my sleep study.

I was bringing home the machine from the DME 6 days after my split study. This from a sleep center that does 4-6 people per night, 5 days per week. Not bad, IMHO.

Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
Did my sleep study on a Monday night, Friday night sleep doc called me with results (severe sleep apnea). It took another three weeks to get my machine delivered from the DME. I would call the DME directly and make sure they got your order faxed to them. After one week, when I hadn't heard anything, I called Lincare and they toldme they hadn't received my order. I phoned sleep center and they said they had sent it out the week before, that Lincare was lying, but they sent it again. So I lost a week.

Completely variable unfortunately. Depends where you had your study.hawaiimom wrote:Aloha All,

On my night shifts I'll usually analyse two studies that are happening overnight and finish them. Unfortunately though they may not see the doctor for a month or more. So, its all analysed, but nothing can be disclosed.
It doesn't take long to analyse. It's just getting an appointment with the physician.
Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
I will say my sleep Doctor was fast: a week from study to report.
BUT I think it is more he is new and has not built up a practice as HIS OWN sleep center is only been open a few months.
BUT the total time was longer, first study was done with in three days, and a week to report to be told I need second study, that one I had to wait two weeks to get that and then another week for the appointment and report.
AND then a week for my machine from second wind. (review here: viewtopic/t86371/Secondwindcpapcom--Review.html )
And as my Doctor was playing power games I had to wait two day for HIS tech to do the settings on my machine (normally the seller does this set up, but he insisted his person HAD do it...it is TOO complex to trust to anyone else)
So 25 minute drive to his office and 10 minute wait (No Time) and a 25 minute drive home..what a crock...(The machine only has 6 settings and only 4 serious ones for pressure EPAP Min and MAX, PS Min and Max...)
And to make things worst that set up was on a Friday so when I found I was having problems with the machine he was out of town that weekend and the following Monday..so I took matters into my own hands and adjusted it my self.
But that is another story. (Look for my threads if interested..)
I have been told two weeks from study to report is normal here in Phoenix AZ and some sleep studies you wait a couple of weeks to get in.
I guess this is NOT all that LIFE threatening after all...
I got bypass surgery within three days...

Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
Lets see...I had my Sleep Study on January 28th. Got a call from my primary doctor about 10 days later. Since my AHI was so high at 131, my doctor just immediately faxed the RX to my health insurance company and the DME shipped (from a different state) my machine directly to me. Once I got my machine I had to call the DME for a tech to come show me how to use it (had to wait five days for the appt). My first night on The Hose was February 21st.
So three weeks from Sleep Study to The Hose.

Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
I tell my pts. 10 working days. ..remember your study has to go thru a few handlers before you...the tech of the nite. scoring tech, center's doctor for the diagnosis, then the ordering doctor, then the DME with the script for the machine.
Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
Looks like my experience is right in the average range. Thank you all, will practice patience

Re: how long is usual to get sleep study results
Wow, I have hesitated to post my experience but since Kate M posted I guess mine is OK. I had my split night study on Thursday night. My PCP called the sleep center the next morning and was told they had not had time to compile and type up all the results. My PCP told them to fax what they had with the sleep doctors hand written notes. He called the DME and me around noon. By 3:00 on Friday I had my machine and mask with instructions to put it on when I went to bed. It can be done!!
