The SD card that comes with my PR System 1 BiPap machine doesn't fit (too small) into the slot of my HP Pavilion laptop. I bought a universal card reader from Staples and it doesn't fit easily into that slot either. I've never used an SD card before so I was careful not to use any force so I wouldn't damage it.
Is this card considered a micro SD that I need an additional SD adapter for?

No it is not a micro sd. My guess is that a bit more force is required. Generally the label is up when inserting it into the reader.

Re: Argh! My machine's SD card doesn't fit into SD card reader
Most SD card readers are designed to accept several different types and form factors of memory cards, besides regular SD cards. Because of this, the slot may look like it's too large or the wrong shape for the SD card. Sometimes there will be several different slots on the reader, and the SD card will only work in one of them. Refer to the documentation that came with the reader or markings on the reader itself to ensure that you're inserting the card into the right slot.
Usually, you can slide the card in with very little force required, by "jiggling" it a little bit to ensure that it slides into the right "track" inside the reader. Often, there's no positive "click" or other indication when the card is in place, unlike the SD card slots on CPAP machines, the card just stops when it's in the proper position, and the end of the card might still stick out of the reader a bit. I struggled with my cheap-o USB card reader at first, but got the hang of it after a few tries. Keep trying, and I'm sure you'll figure it out!

Re: Argh! My machine's SD card doesn't fit into SD card reader
thanks, I'll try again. I didn't want to damage the machine card so I was really gentle. There is an arrow on the label to direct where you insert the card into the bipap machine so I assumed that was the way you inserted it into the universal reader.

Re: Argh! My machine's SD card doesn't fit into SD card reader
I have a card reader that has slots in it for 6 different sizes of cards. I have the same machine as you have. My SD card fits fine in one of the 6 slots.
I bought it on-line several years ago. The logo on it says "VicPro" USB 2.0 It was very low in price. I don't recall where I got it; Amazon and JR Electronics are some of my favorite places for that kind of stuff, but you could just Google it and maybe find it at several places.

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

I feel really dumb. The machine SD card fits perfectly into the slot in my HP pavilion. It just looked wrong from the outside.
I was able to import the machine data into my computer very quickly because, basically, there isn't much on it. I changed my machine settings from 15 min 25 max to 12 min 18 max.
Wish me luck. I"m exhausted.
