CPAP Hose length longer than 10ft?
CPAP Hose length longer than 10ft?
Anyone know where I can get a CPAP hose length longer than 10ft?
My machine is keeping me up at night even when I use 10 ft of hose to try to distance myself from it. If they don't make hose lengths any longer than this is there a hose extension piece I could buy to daisy chain 2 10ft hoses together to make 20ft?

Your manufacturer books tells you 10 foot is the recommended max length. It would interfeer with your treatment and data collection.Dave007 wrote:Anyone know where I can get a CPAP hose length longer than 10ft?

Given the choice between adding an additional length of hose and being able to sleep and running the possibility of the additional hose skewing the data a little, I would go for the extension and watch the data to see how it effects it.

Ear plugs?
Re: CPAP Hose length longer than 10ft?
Yes, ear plugs really help. And the soft foam ones really aren't difficult to get used to. I started using them on a trip to Europe back a few years ago, and then just continued to use them. Works well for me.

yes, there are hose connectors, google is your friend. "cpap hose connector".Dave007 wrote:Anyone know where I can get a CPAP hose length longer than 10ft?

some have swivels in the middle, (the one I used to use did)
I'm surprised your system one machine makes that much noise, mine didn't, my bed partner is using it now, and I can hear it faintly when the house is quiet... I think my s9 vpap auto is quieter though.
I used to get wheezing from the hose, both on a s9 elite and the sys1 auto, and I believe it was caused by a respironics 45degree elbow and maybe that hose connector, now, with just an antibacterial filter and a 10 foot hose, I don't get the wheezing anymore.
other noises bother me, though, so I use these earplugs http://smile.amazon.com/3M-OCS1135-Yell ... w+earplugs, they don't irritate my ears over long periods like the cheaper cylinder rough outside ones ie: http://smile.amazon.com/3M-Classic-Earp ... w+earplugs

What is it sitting on? Sometimes wooden night stands act like speakers. Try putting it on a couple of mouse pads and cut up a box to put a barrier between you and the machine. DO not close up the machine in the box!!!

I have thought about taking a box and one of those hepa air conditioner filters and making an enclosure for my machiene, just to get better filtrationBlackSpinner wrote:What is it sitting on? I keep mine on the floor, and I hear 0 noise. I keep it on a clean towel to have a barrier between it and carpet. I have an 8 foot hose.

Once you go greater than 10 ft you lose pressure by the time it reaches your face. Move the machine lower than the mattress.
Re: CPAP Hose length longer than 10ft?
Thanks for all the tips! It's currently sitting on my dresser table at waist level. I will try putting a towel under it and on top of the machine and see if that helps. I think moving it to the floor would also help although there is a ton of dust their and feel like the machine would be sucking it all up even if it's resting on a towel. If all else fails I'll revert to the foam ear plugs

Make sure you don't block the air intake. I would also be careful that the machine does not have heat buildup due to the towel on top.
I put my machine on furniture about 18 inches below the level of the bed.
Most of the noise is echoing through the hose. Using a hose cover, https://www.cpap.com/productpage/snuggl ... cover.html, will muffle this noise.
I am also surprised it is making much noise. But then when you get as old as me, you don't hear as much as you once did.I'm surprised your system one machine makes that much noise, mine didn't, my bed partner is using it now, and I can hear it faintly when the house is quiet... Re: CPAP Hose length longer than 10ft?
Even with a 10' long air hose you screw up the machine operation. In a Resmed machine it needs to calculate the drop of the air pressure along the hose. That's why you need to input the kind of the hose. There is no input for longer hoses than 6'. In each of my Resmed machines the S9 Autoset and S9 Elite I can enter: SlimeLine, Standard, and Climate (which is automatically sensed). All are 6' long. So some of the machine treatment would be somewhat off for 10' long hose. How is it done in your PR? If you plan to place your machine in an acoustically insulated box then you will need to provide proper ventilation and probably install a small fan in it. So you'll end up with the noise from ventilation this fan instead of the noise from the PR machine. My S9 Autoset machine makes some humming sound to which I got used to and I like listening to it. This sound comes from the blower inside which changes its speed between inhalation and expiration, depending on the EPR (Flax) setting.

Re: CPAP Hose length longer than 10ft?
incorrect, my VPAP auto and my friends VPAP Adapt both have hose settings for slimline, regular and 3 meter.avi123 wrote:Even with a 10' long air hose you screw up the machine operation. The box would already have a fan in it that's moving between 20 and 50 liters per minute into and out of the box (the xpap itself), logically, why would it need another fan?... answer, it wouldn't.
