Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
FYI the headband last about 3 months before stretching sufficiently to provide a less than optimal fit. It is not bad enough to require replacement yet but I expect that it will be in another few weeks. My wife has suggested a method of shortening and sewing it at the ends to get another 3-4 months out of it. I must say that it is the most comfortable mask with fewer "wake up's" due to mask adjustment etc. I've had since I started using a CPAP.
Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
I am still using my very first P10 headgear that I started with in mid January of this year. Just last week finally replaced the nasal pillows. I do wash the headgear in really hot soapy water when it starts to get a little too loose and so far that brings it back to where it's tight enough to get the job done. Probably wash it about every 4 to 6 weeks now.BenMo wrote:FYI the headband last about 3 months before stretching sufficiently to provide a less than optimal fit.

Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
I think I'm a convert! Went in to talk to DME about my swift FX nano rubbing on the septum of my nose and we agreed to try something different. He was thinking I was using the Swift FX nasal pillows so he brought out the P10s for me to try. I decided to try it out, even though I was expecting to walk out with an N10.
I did increase the time on the ramp to make adjusting to breathing out with these a little easier.. but wow - hardly touches the face, small head gear, no feeling like I have cold air blowing around my nose like with the nasal masks, and no leaks when I move around. Also, the temperature of the air doesn't seem to matter as much to me when its not blowing on my face at all, so I was actually up to 80 with climate control last night to see what my sinuses think of that.
It does touch my upper lip, so am still playing around with the suggestions in this thread to help manage that, but it is still a winner for now!

Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
I'll throw my 2-cents in for whatever it's worth, (maybe 1/2 cent? ) but the consensus seems to be pretty much all positive for the P-10. And for good reason.
I've used nasal pillows dating all the way back to the ancient "Adams Circuit". I have tried many others, but I kept coming back to the PB Breeze due to it's stability; plus I also modified it with a remote vent hose to alleviate the exhaust issues that we all struggle with. (NOTE: If anyone is going to modify their setup, you absolutely need to properly calibrate the leak flow rate !)
I went for a PSG two weeks ago, and I decided to try the P-10 that the lab had available. WOW! What a huge improvement over earlier designs. The diffused exhaust porting is simply excellent. Other than that, I really think that the most important advance is the hose. It is remarkably flexible compared to others, and that flexibility allows the pillows to maintain a seal with much lighter force against the nares since it alleviates a lot of lateral pulling forces.
Use the P-10 along with an overhead hose hanger, and you will be absolutely SET! I never thought I'd get rid of my "custom rig", but I'm sold on the P-10!

“Ignorance” is not pejorative; it is simply a lack of information. “Stupidity” is an inability to utilize available information.

Slightly OT but has anyone else found the pillows not lasting beyond a couple of weeks? The last two replacements -- one of the flares for both sets excessively soft and loses rigidity in only a few weeks. Fortunately I get two pairs a month on replenishment basis.

Gosh no. I just tossed my very first pillows about 3 or 4 weeks ago...used it since mid January and didn't even rotate with others of the same size.dtsm wrote:Slightly OT but has anyone else found the pillows not lasting beyond a couple of weeks? I had the same problem. I was advised here to boil them with baking soda, which seemed to fix them temporarily, but fresh ones were still better. I've actually changed to Nuance gel pillows, which seem to last me longer and have less leaks. The P10's are nice pillows tho. It was the headgear that gave me problems.dtsm wrote:Slightly OT but has anyone else found the pillows not lasting beyond a couple of weeks? I'm a P10 lover too! I'm into my 6th day with them, coming from a Mirage Swift II. My AHI has dropped from a 8.62 down to a 2.8 from the mask change alone. I'm definitely a convert!

Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
I've had the opposite experience. My headband seems to be tighter and less "elastic" so around 4 hours into use, it can feel like the mask is trying to force the pillows into my nasal passages (and yes, I know how to adjust it. This is at maximum spread of the straps).BenMo wrote:FYI the headband last about 3 months before stretching sufficiently to provide a less than optimal fit.
Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
I've had similar issues but only occasionally. When I wash the mask, I've had to use my wife's blow dryer to ensure that it fully dried out before using. I suspected that part of the rainout issues was caused by damp mesh to start the night of sleep, because it never happened on Saturday night (Saturday is wash day, so the blow dryer was used). Now I use the blow dryer on it each day and haven't had the rainout issue since (but it's only been about 10 days). YMMVCNTRL wrote:The P10 really struggles with rainout in cold weather, the exhaust blocks quite easily and quickly with water before being woken up gasping for breath.
Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
I purchased a ResMed Air Fit P10 Nasal Pillow Mask System because my other nasal pillow mask system was contantly blowing cool air on my neck and shoulders regardless of how I turned the vent. I have a problem with arthritis in my shoulders and it was very discomforting.
I must say that I am absolutely elated with the new Air Fit Nasal Pillow System. I used it last night for the first time and it was quiet and did not have any vent flow problems. I didn't even feel the vent flow on my shoulders or neck! I recommend it for anyone who has experienced my problem.
An added benefit is that my wife appreciates not having vent wind blowing on her face at night. This adds to conjugal bliss!!

I always have to laugh at these... it reminds me of the fake reviews on amazon, where the 'reviewer' always uses the correct marketing term for the item under review.pastorjohnpereira@ymail.com wrote:I ResMed Air Fit P10 Nasal Pillow Mask System ... Air Fit Nasal Pillow System.

Re: Reviews of new AirFit P10 Resmed nasal pillow mask thread
When my DME just told me that the Breeze, the only reason I've been able to use CPAP at all, is discontinued, I bawled my eyes out. Then I came here to look for suggestions. I have very high cheekbones, and other attempts to change, like the Swift Mirage, dug flaming red ditches into my face. I ended up trying the AirFit P10.
After 3 nights with it, I wish I could say this is my answer. It is so light and flexible, and gets rid of the problem of blowing air on my husband, who has to erect a barrier of pillows to protect himself. It was also nice not to have the hard plate on the back of the head when I sleep on my back once in a great while.
However, I have flaming red marks where it pushes into my cheeks, even with maximum spread of the nice fabric covered straps, a painful sore where it pushes the pillow device in and squashes my nose, and worst of all, it has made vertical lines between my nose and mouth that make me look like I've been smoking for 40 years, when I've never smoked at all. I also must remove my headgear when I get up, several times each night, and it is hard to get readjusted so it doesn't hurt when I put it back on. The pillows do not swivel around to fit your nares like they do on the Breeze. (I can't just disconnect the hose, and walk around with it on, or my nose fills with congestion).
I wiped my Breeze with a vinegar water solution each morning, which cleaned it perfectly in-between the big cleanings every 6 weeks, so the regime of washing with soap and water and scrubbing the vent lightly with a soft brush is daunting. I am using a fingernail brush, but have wiped with vinegar water and not used water and soap yet, being afraid it won't dry out, as someone else mentioned here. I do not have time to blow dry it.
I am giving it one more night, and if I still look like a wrinkle ridden hag, will go back to the Breeze, which zips on and off in a second and has NO side straps. Most people are side sleepers, so I do not understand why they are refusing to give us any nasal pillow models that go over the top of the head any longer. I have stocked up and have 3 Breezes and 4 sets of pillows. The Breeze pillows are so good, I only need to change them about every 1 1/2 years.
I am thinking of trying the SleepWeaver the next time my insurance will pay for a mask, despite my DME warning me that it leaks. Any comments?
