Nope. It DOES affect flow rate (as we both said). It also MAY interfere with exhale relief schemes (as we both said).
The pressure will rise and fall during changes in flow rate. BUT it does that whether the hose is 6 ft or 60. That's how the machine senses your breathing cycles and apnea events. The initial drop will be greater with a longer hose. But once the flow stabilizes during the inhale cycle, the hose length has no appreciable effect on the pressure.
If you were to "pant"...not allowing the system to stabilize, you would get crazy pressure readings, yes. But with reasonable breathing patterns and hose lengths, the pressure delivered for therapy is not affected by hose length.
That being said, if I needed a hose longer than 8 ft, I would spring for smoothbore to reduce the "settling time".
The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

I have a 6' hose, plus a mask with some hose extension....it does take some effort to get all the way over to the otherside, but the HoZer can make the reach.... I usually sleep in the middle of the bed and don't reach the extreme edges....because its the nature of being on a sleep number (Queen) bed with a single chamber.
Overall hose length is a few feet more, because its an HC150 that is on my nightstand, and the machine is on the lower shelf.
OTOH, I have put the machine on the floor and under beds before.
One thing about the HoZer is that it isn't as restricting as the Hose Buddy was.... When I've jumped out of bed with mask on with the HoseBuddy...it would snap me back into bed for making the attempt.
I did it once with HoZer (so far), and it caused my HC150 to tip over the edge of the nightstand making me try to leap back to catch it (since there's a UPS on the floor below that side)....fortunately nothing bad happened. The quick connects of the HC150 made it separate from my hose....and it landed right side up and no spilled water (though distilled water doesn't conduct electricity....) I didn't wait for the auto-off to shut my cpap off.... I think that ended my quest to find out the cause of whatever made me jump out of bed in the first place.
I wonder if getting a security system is the next step....I know changing the locks on my place did make me feel/sleep somewhat better.
