Wisp nasal mask the best?

Post by bwexler » Sat Nov 29, 2014 1:45 pm

Has anyone who liked the Wisp nasal mask switched to another nasal mask they like even better?
I am getting ready to order a mask before insurance changes everything in January. I would hat to get my current favorite only to discover a great new alternative that is even better.

My nostrils are too sensitive to even try nasal pillows again, and full face is too big and clumsy. I used to like the SleepWeaver Elan but it no longer works well since I switched to ASV a year ago.

There likely isn't such an animal as the "best mask"- XPAP patients have personal preferences, different shaped faces, etc. etc., and as a result there are many different opinions regarding what mask is best. As a long-time patient I have been wearing the original style Res-Med Mirage Activa for maybe ten years an find that it suits my personal needs better than other style masks that I have used. I can't compare it to the Wisp because I have never had a Wisp.

I do agree with you that I certainly don't care for nasal pillows, though many patients swear by pillows.

You might look at the ResMed Swift FX Nano nasal cushion mask.
Very similar to the Wisp in the cushion itself. Headgear is a little more minimal IMHO with the Swift FX Nano which happens to be something that I favor.
I have tried the Wisp but wasn't successful with it but had great success with the Nano. YMMV though...it's the way it is with all masks.

Like Pugsy, I like the Resmed FX Nano better than the Wisp. I have tried both and, like Pugsy, prefer the more minimal headgear on the Nano. The Nano is, so far, the best nasal mask I have tried BUT that won't hold true for everyone. Some like the Wisp or some other nasal mask better. It is not "one mask suits all".

Actually I prefer nasal pillows best and use the Resmed Airfit P10. Again-- that's just me and it may not suit others.

I keep the Nano as an alternative and use it when I have a cold or allergy problems. I have tried many full face masks and, so far, can't wear any of them. The Nano works for me in that situation.

Try the F&P Eson. Not as minimal, but secure and comfortable.
