OK to mix brands of CPAP machine & mask??

Post by EmilySleeps » Mon Jan 19, 2015 9:36 pm

I use a ResMed AirSense™ 10 AutoSet CPAP Machine and have only ever used nasal pillows. However, I've been experiencing lots of leaks and very painful nose and ears. A friend just gave me a Fisher & Paykel FlexiFit431 Full Face Mask to try, as he thinks it will alleviate the problems. My question is: is it okay to use a Fisher & Paykel mask with a ResMed CPAP machine? (The tubing that came with the mask is actually branded ResMed.) I'm looking forward to trying this mask but don't want to cause damage to my CPAP machine. Any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks,
Emily

You can mix and match to your hearts content. My masks have never matched my machine.

Absolutely! You can mix brands of masks and machines. I think it would be safe to say that most of us do.
I use a ResMed mask and Respironics machine.

just change the 'mask type' setting on the airsense.

and, to echo what the others have said, yes, use any mask you like, the machine doesn't care.

Luckily, the connections are not proprietary, so wear the mask that best fits you with whatever machine you have.
