Are hoses or pillows recyclable?

Post by Hosehead4ever » Tue Feb 03, 2015 8:55 am

I find it hard to throw away supplies that must have life left in them, especially hoses. If I can't recycle them, has anyone got ideas for creative use to avoid throwing them in a landfill? You know, like a vacuum hose extension, kinetic sculpture, halloween costume?

how about just keep using them till there isn't life left in them?

I used my original hose for about four years.

I use my hoses for a long time also...but...the last time i made a change I cut off the ends and used a scissors to cut the hose from end to end. I then tucked my computer, printer, phone cords inside. Looks much cleaner than having 3 loose cords.

I use one as duct to carry cooling air in a kegerator, up into the draft tap tower. By cooling the tower, the beer does not foam. The air movement is powered by a computer fan in a project box, and the CPAP hose is the perfect duct.

I recently used an old non heated hose (that I had used for over 3 years prior to heated hose use) to encase my modem/router wiring to prevent the cats from hell from chewing up things...then I covered with old socks just in case the crinkly hose was attractive chew toy.

Hoses don't need to be replaced at whatever interval insurance allows. They will last a LOT longer.

Palerider, I have so many hoses partly because in early xpap therapy, I didn't realize they didn't need to be changed as often as Medicare allowed them to be, so I just went with a new hose every six months. I haven't replaced my current hose in two years, but I have 5 used hoses and one new in the package and I just got a machine that uses a heated hose. My old hoses are at this point just taking up space.

LSAT, that's a great idea. The cords at my bedside could use some taming. There goes one hose. Four to go!

Your "used" hoses....are they the cheaper gray standard hoses or by chance are they the Respironics White Performance hoses?

Sleeprider, now that is creative. I love it.

Pugsy, yeah, as I said above, I figured out I don't need new hoses so often. But now I have a stockpile. They are the gray standard hoses.

Also, I gather your cats are interesting in the Chinese sense of the word. Now I'm glad my cat is so stupid and boring.

Ah..the gray standard hoses...they cost more to mail than they are worth in most cases.
Now if they had been the White performance hoses I would maybe have offered you a small amount of money for them as I sometimes have a use for used hoses for people in dire straits.

If you can't find a suitable use for the hoses around the house and have room to store them somewhere in your home...there are people who sometimes are in dire straits and even a slightly used gray standard hose is a god send to them.
