spit bubbles/saliva on lips in morning
spit bubbles/saliva on lips in morning
Does anyone wake up with crusted saliva on their lips or still wet saliva? It looks kinda like I'm frothing at the mouth. Other than being bothersome, I am worried about this because this has never happened before and all of a sudden a few months ago, it happens every night.

Without any meaningful information to go on, I'm going to take a wild guess that you use a nasal mask of some kind and are leaking your therapy air out your mouth while you're sleeping. In other words, your therapy is being compromised by the loss of your therapy air. Maybe you need to try taping your mouth shut or get a full face mask.summer1 wrote:Does anyone wake up with crusted saliva on their lips or still wet saliva? Den,
I use the nasal pillows. I actually have woken up and felt the saliva bubbling...lol...and yes, my mouth was open. I have been having sinus issues for months now, so I am guessing I have started breathing through my mouth some now. It scares me to tape my mouth because what if I can't breathe well enough through my nose and I end up dying?

Are you doing nasal cleansing before bedtime? (so you can possibly breathe through your nose)summer1 wrote:Den,

Your preference for nasal masks is not unusual (of course), but many nasal mask users have a full face mask in their "arsenal" for just those situations when nose-breathing is problematic. At least with a full face mask, the therapy isn't compromised because mouth-breathing in a full face mask is keeping the therapy air in the circuit.

Re: spit bubbles/saliva on lips in morning
Hi Summer1,
Just came across your post I know it's been a while ago but I can't seem to find any answer regarding wet saliva on my top lip when I wake up in the morning using my BiPAP machine. I also use the nasal pillows as you do.
Previously I have used the CPAP machine and has been using this new BiPAP since January I have never experienced this before waking up with moisture on my top lip you just started within the last 2 months or so.
Did you ever find out why that was happening to you?

I doubt if Summer will see your post. The post you are replying to is 6 years old.Lirocker wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 7:43 pmHi Summer1,

Re: spit bubbles/saliva on lips in morning
Hi Oscar,
yeah I knew it was a while ago but I didn't think it was that long ago. By any chance do you know any reason why this is happening to me where I wake up in the morning and my top lip is moist from saliva?
I am currently using a dream station BiPAP machine with nasal pillows I would appreciate information from anyone on here that has experienced this or possibly knows a reason why this is happening, thank you so much!
