Humidifier leak, repair or replace
It's a tiny leak and looks like its from where the metal plate on the bottom of the chamber is. If I can fix it what do I use? If I can't I'll buy a new one from our host.
Morbius, are you bored?

If you want to try I would suggest some 5 minute epoxy glue ... for the outside
Or :
http://www.amazon.com/Bondic%C2%AE-Plas ... rds=bondic

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

The epoxy would hold up to the heat from the plate?grayghost4 wrote:If you want to try I would suggest some 5 minute epoxy glue ... for the outside

That Bondic looks kind of interesting for busted kids toys!

bondic is really neat, I got some a while back, it came in fridays mail, and saturday, I was using it to fix the ice dispenser in my fridge. well, the plastic fingerclips that held the switch in place broke off... and bondic made fixing it just a couple minutes of work.postitnote wrote:The epoxy would hold up to the heat from the plate?grayghost4 wrote:If you want to try I would suggest some 5 minute epoxy glue ... for the outside

my concern with bondic, or epoxy, would be the differing expansion coefficients of the plastic and metal due to the heat changes... I'd think it'd need a bit more pliable connection to avoid the seal breaking.

I think palerider is correct the seal is a O ring between the plastic and metal ... which is a flexible seal .

I learn a lot from the frog....grayghost4 wrote:The Frog to the rescue again
aquarium silicone was also mentioned... that'd probably work too.

Re: Humidifier leak, repair or replace
I have J-B weld here so might try that. Pretty sure I have aquarium glue too. Also have clear silicone caulk in the gun size tube. I have access to a spray can of that stuff that was "seen on tv" too. The one where the guy repaired his rowboat bottom with a piece of screen he sprayed...Lol, son used it on a gutter problem and it worked!TangledHose wrote:J-B Weld Epoxy..........for metal repairs, heat resistant, easy to use, tough as nails
