Breathing "stutters" when I inhale upon waking up

Post by mightydon » Sat May 30, 2015 11:41 pm

First post here and very great reads from the posts I am viewing tonight. I have increased my pressure from 10 to 15 and the past week. I have noticed that I have been waking up in the middle of the night and in the morning with a faster heartbeat, like my heart is pounding in my chest. My breathing is also affected because its feels like I am taking 3 to 4 breaths during one inhalation to fill my lungs. Its like my breathing is "stuttering" while I inhale. When my heart pumps/beats, that is when my breathing stutters. So my heart may beat 3 to 4 times during on inhalation resulting in 3 to 4 breaths before I exhale. The same things happens as I exhale. When my heart pumps/beats I exhale 3 to 4 times before I take another breath. It feels like my diaphram rises and falls harder with the pumping of my heart resulting in the stuttered breathing pattern

Soon as I take the mask off I am breathe normal .

Has anyone else gone through this as you adjust to a new pressure setting?

Thanks,
Donald

Welcome to the group. Early on in treatment I experienced stuttered breathing, but it was just as often when not using cpap. At some point it just stopped. I do hope you'll register with the forum and let the folks here help you with checking your data to see if anything stands out. It may be that tweaking a setting will resolve this. Too soon to tell.

Why did you increase your pressure? Did you look at the reports generated by your machine? What machine are you using? etc...etc...
