Better nasal pillow?

Post by carojae » Sat Aug 15, 2015 12:23 pm

I like my nasal pillow, for the most part. But it's not perfect. It's a "swift nasal pillow".

My experience is as follows:
First my nose is probably average in size and has no unusual bumps, crooks etc. A pretty normal nose however I've heard people say my children have my small nose just to give you an idea.

Now, when I use the pillow, I use the "L" size because the "M" size seems to deprive me of air, or at least that's the way it feels. I've tried and tried to get use to using it "M" but even exhaling seems to be un-natural as far as breathing goes as I have to push the air out and it is not a normal exhale.

My problem with the "L"arge is it seems to easily move off target (my nostrils) and I wake with a wind storm blowing out the side of the nose piece. So in summary the "M" seems too small and the "L" seems too, well, large as those big holes offer less rigidity and move easier I think. I can tighten my straps but I wake up with facial marks and wonder about my nose being bent in a ski jump position while I sleep.

I've thought of different ideas like maybe trimming the nasal cones (?) to make the holes bigger but that would also make the cones shorter and more apt to slide around and off target of my nostrils too.

So do any of you have an opinion on this? Is there a better nasal pillow out there than the Swift maybe? I love to hear a good solution that involves the nasal pillow.
Thank you guys.

Jim

I have the same issue with the Airfit P10 nasal pillows.
The Medium pillows feel slightly restrictive, but the Large pillows are too large and want to move around and leak.
I use the Medium pillows but wish there was another size in-between.

Same here. I get really good leakage numbers with a medium, but don't feel like I'm breathing easy some of the time. OTOH, the large tends to move around more causing leakage.

Which one?
The old Swift II that looks like scuba gear?
Or the Swift LT or the Swift FX?

It's the Swift FX pillow.
I bought it a while back and ended up putting it aside and going back to my easylife nasal mask for a while. But then I missed the nasal pillow's freedom it offered and went back to it. It was the second time around I noticed that the medium pillow was making me feel shorted with air so I went to the large nose piece and then noticed the pro's and con's of each.
