Nasoneb nebulizer for chronic sinusitis?

Post by MrGrumpy » Sat Jan 16, 2016 9:33 pm

Anybody else on a Nasoneb nebulizer for sinusits probs? Last year, my sinuses flared up on me awful. I got referred to this great allergy and immunology doctor. Initially, the guy tried to change my nasal corticosteroid spray from Nasacort AQ spray to a new one called QNasal. The QNasal was very effective but had potent side effects...it was about like taking oral prednisone...it made me hungry, made me gain weight, it elevated my blood pressure and made me real irritable feeling and talk fast, which is how oral prednisone makes me feel.

So the allergy specialist took me off QNasl and gave me a prescription for this new thing called Nasoneb nebulizer. Its not FDA approved yet. Id never heard of it before. I got this machine FedExed to me, its nebulizer, I had never used one before. Then he prescribed these two meds sent to me from a compounding pharmacy. one of the drugs is an anti-biotic called "mupirocin." The other drug is something I'd never heard of before, acetylcysteine...a mucous thinner thats also an anti-oxidant. I mix the two capsules up in 5 ml of sterile saline spray the compounding pharacy sends me with the drugs. Mix them all up and dump into this nebulizer cup. Then turn on the nebulizer and it shoots up into my sinus passages and drains down the back of my throat and I spit it all out.

MAN! Does this thing work well!!!! Holy smokes! And ZERO SIDE EFFECTS!!! No weight gain, no corticosteroid side effects...NOTHING! It got rid of a nasty sinusitis flarefup I had last spring that had become chronic and to this day, its still better.

And my doctor can add anything he wants to this cocktail of sinusitis nebulizer drugs. He can add traditional corticosteroids for those that can tolerate them well (I can tolerate Nasacort AQ or the weaker ones like flonase but not QNasl or straight prednisone), anti-fungals, anti-biotics...anything he wants.

Its a wonder machine for chronic sinusitis, IMO. Its really helped my sinus issues.
Id be dead by now if I didn't use my CPAP gear every night.

Dear MrGrumpy: That is great to hear that you are feeling better. One thing to note for the other readers, The NasoNeb is registered with the FDA

Yes, Nasoneb has really really really helped my sinusitis problem. Sorry, I honestly thought the Nasoneb was not quite FDA approved yet. My bad. Anybody reading this and has bad sinusitis issues that just are lodged in and it goes on and on and on and on...ask your sinus doctor about Nasoneb nebulizer. Of course, they gotta put the right medication cocktail in there.
