What's up on Ebay?

Post by guest » Fri Jan 28, 2005 10:02 pm

Yesterday there were several Ebay listings running for used machines. Today there are none. I wonder if Ebay pulled them. Are there other good sources for used, spare machines?

cpaps are banned on eBay. They show up, but usually get pulled. Try Yahoo Auctions or Overstock.com auctions. If you are looking for a cheap fixed pressure cpap I would just buy the Puritan Bennett 420G for $299 (free shipping) on cpap.com. Why buy used machine for nearly as much on the auction sites?

This summer I bid on several machines. I actually won two, but ebay cancelled both auctions.

I had listed a used c-pap on Ebay and had it pulled. I recently got a newer model and wanted to sell my older one. If anyone is intersted in it, let me know and I'll give you details.

EBAY auctions- Illegal?

Post by tomjax » Thu Feb 17, 2005 11:26 am

The cpap sales on ebay seems to be an on again, off again thing.
I have searched every place I can think of and written several mfg to show me where it is illegal to sell a cpap. They cannot.

The warning on accessories is the same as on a cpap, yet masks etc are openly sold.
I think that a physicians ORDER is required to set the pressure by the DME, not the sale of the product.
Insurance and dme set a POLICY of requiring a prescription of places not licensed to dispense prescriptions.
There is a big difference in an physicians ORDER and a PRESCRIPTION, but it is used interchangeably by most of the uninformed industry.
A DME or distributor is wise to limit their products through these channels for liability purposes.
Someone show me where I am wrong.
This was not permitted to be discussed by me on sleepnet. Sandman finally ran me off.

I bid on a mask and the auction was pulled, so I don't think masks are as free as you might think, either.

I even saw one industrious fellow who was selling the carrying case for a CPAP machine, minimum bid $100, case would be shipped full. I assume that also got pulled.

dvines, what kind is your old one? If you (or anyone) has a used Auto they want to dump, I might be interested in talking, rather than bother to try (again!) to get my sleep lab on the phone to get the script so I can get cpap.com to sell me one.

Liam, whose handwriting is as bad as the stereotypical doctor's, but apparently it takes more than that.

Liam,
Do you have any script for a cpap? What did you use to get the machine you are now using? If the dr. faxed it directly to the DME, you might be able to get a copy from the DME.

Yes, but since the DME doesn't know I want to return the one I'm currently renting in order to buy another one from someone else... that would feel awkward to do. That's why I want to get it from the sleep doctor, or circumvent the whole process.

Liam, who really does have a nice DME rep, he'd hate to insult HER when it's her company's outrageous pricing that he's objecting to.

tomjax, so good to see you posting here! I always enjoyed reading your thoughtful posts. Well, Sandman's loss is everyone else's gain. Will be interesting to see you elaborate as you please on this board. You've provided so much good information at the other place over the years, even though you had to walk on eggs. You can hatch your thoughts out and fully fledge 'em here.

I understand the distinction you're drawing between a physician's order on a prescription for the "dose" (the pressure) vs whether a cpap machine just in and of itself needs an Rx. I'm not sure how one could separate the two. Would be interesting to know.

Sorry, 53 now, Lauras and my arrangements are private. We do not tell our secrets.
I am still wondering how this works. Does this reply go to you or to a thread?

I got lots of tales of sleepnet ostings being removed. Still cannot figure them out and S will not reply.

Won't be a problem here. If they were going to delete anyone's posts, or toss anyone out, by now I would have been.

Liam, smart mouthed, obnoxious, but deep down, SO lovable.

Posts involving secret arrangements between you and Laura bypasses the forum and goes right to your spouses lawyer.
