Resmed Warranty

Post by K5MOW » Mon Feb 22, 2016 12:31 pm

Good afternoon everyone

As you all probably know I recently received my new CPAP. It is a Airsense 10 Autoset.
Today I called Apria healthcare to see what my warranty was on my machine and how many months I need to pay the rental fee to pay it off. They told me that I need to pay 10 months to pay off my machine which I am happy with.

They also told me that I have a full five year warranty on my machine if anything happened to my machine they would either repair it or replace it for five full years. I know the manufacture warranty is only two years does anyone else have a full five year warranty with their provider.

Thanks Roger

Not a coincidence the DME keeps you around long enough for most insurance cos to buy you a new machine.

This was a VERBAL statement from APRIA?

Of course, your extended warranty may be paid for in "maintenance" fees,
due periodically after the machine is paid off.

The same apria that said they had no repair or replacement for my machine 2 months after the mfg warranty expired (2 years). Said they could send it to respironics, which typically took up to 6 weeks, no estimate what it would cost, and they had no loaner machine I could use.

Learned two things, have a backup machine, don't trust a dme to support you regardless of what they say.

I made an appeal to the insurance along with my primary doctor due to medical necessity and they ordered a new machine, which I had by the end of the week.

One of my worst weeks BTW as I could not get sleep and was a zombie by the end of the week. Slept the entire weekend.

If any DME tries to sell me an extended warranty, I would want a copy of it,
to be carefully read BEFORE I sign on the dotted line.
It used to be a warranty was simple, and positive.
Now, they are pages and pages of fine print and EXCEPTIONS.

Get it in writing or it doesn't exist. Most Apria patients have reported that they had to pay a maintenance fee which is just a garbage fee because they still do not provide a loaner if your machine requires service.

Best to check if that "service" requires a maintenance fee. Mine tried to tell me that it was a 13 month rental and then every 6 month fee for maintenance . I couldn't find that fee anywhere on my multipage contract.
