ComfortCurve 2 vs. ComfortFull

Post by OwlCreekObserver » Thu Jul 13, 2006 7:47 am

I don't mean to beat a dead horse here (apologies to PETA types) but I just wanted to show how much different are the results from my ComfortCurve nose cushion vs. my ComfortFull full-face mask.

Last night I started out with the ComfortCurve but had to abandon it when my taped yapper sprung a leak. It's a long story involving the use of less tape due to injuries received from trying to remove tape a little too quickly a few mornings ago. It's healing nicely, thankyouverymuch, but not yet quite ready for my usual taping method.

This is the first time that I've used both masks in the same night and I thought the differences in leaks and apneas were pretty striking. For whatever reason, I just can't seem to get the ComfortFull to operate without leaks, no matter how many times I readjust everything.

During the first night of my sleep study a few months ago my AHI was only in the 17-20 range so it appears the full-face mask, in my case, is actually worse than nothing.

Types of masks results differm you are looking at Apples and Oranges. The FF Mask moves a lots more air. You may have to change to a different pressure range to get control, but to be sucessful you have to tame thoes Critter Leaks.

I use two of the same type masks Comfortfull and F & P 431, The 431 moves more air and the numbers are higher, but it feels better. Jim

Actually it isn't the leaks that bother me so much, but it's the huge jump in apnea events between the two masks. Are you saying that higher pressure with the ComfortFull is needed to have the same effect as the lower pressure (10) with the ComfortCurve?

Your software should point the way for you, you could increase the pressure on the FF but really the leaks could be a big part of the problem

I am going to have to go back to my ComfortFull, last night my F & P 431 numbers hit the roof, AHI 7.7, for me that's teriable, The Snore alarm knocked two paintings off the wall. Jim
