Even with a mouth guard you can still leak through your mouth. Keep your teeth together and try to breath through your mouth. Air still escapes through the lips. Some people use a chin strap...some tape their lips closed....Best way to eliminate mouth breathing is a Full Face Mask.

I use an custom made upper mouthpiece to keep my few remaining lower teeth from irritating my upper gum. Only way I can accommodate mouth breathing is to use a FFM.
