I am using DreamStation CPAP by Philips Respiratory. What value should I put in the DreamStation for the "mask type" for the "Dreamwear Nasal Mask", "Amara Gel Full Face Mask", and "Wisp Nasal Mask", respectively?
Thanks!!!
DreamStation's setting: "mask type"
Re: DreamStation's setting: "mask type"
all respironics masks have a X number somewhere on mask or package, if you can't find it, download the appropriate mask manual off the net, it should be in there.xunlao wrote:I am using DreamStation CPAP by Philips Respiratory. Re: DreamStation's setting: "mask type"
I don't have an answer to this but I also have the dreamstation with the resmed F10 FFM and my RRT set the mask type to 'None" I had asked her about that when i was trying a nasal mask and FFM over the course of a few days and she said the setting doesn't matter. So if the setting doesn't matter why have a setting to begin with. Again, sorry not trying to hijack your thread.

thus, once again, showcasing the ignorance of RRTs when it comes to cpap.Cudos wrote:I don't have an answer to this but I also have the dreamstation with the resmed F10 FFM and my RRT set the mask type to 'None" I had asked her about that when i was trying a nasal mask and FFM over the course of a few days and she said the setting doesn't matter. the settings *DO* matter, but in a minor way. they help the machine compensate for pressure losses due to different resistances to airflow in different types of masks. for instance, pillow masks need a little higher pressure at the machine to compensate for the slightly higher drop in pressure as the air goes through the small holes.
it's not critical, it's a 'fine tuning' sort of thing.
googling 'system one resistance' (which is what it used to be called) will turn up more info, and even a couple little diagrams giving examples of the pressure changes.

Agree with palerider.
I've used the Wisp and am using the Dreamware masks and both packages identify X1 as the setting.
