Straps sliding on Dreamwear under nose mask
Straps sliding on Dreamwear under nose mask
Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the strap from riding up over the back of my head every night? The mask fits good and making the fit tighter does not help the sliding. I thought about pinning it to my hair or sleeping with a ponytail but I think that might cause a lot of damage to my hair over time. I'm wearing the Dreamwear under the nose nasal mask. Thanks for any help!

Re: Straps sliding on Dreamwear under nose mask
It was kind of a pain in the ass to do every night but this worked for me when I was using nasal FX pillows.
I don't use nasal pillows any more but I did use them a few years ago and I had the same problem. I tried the velcro trick but my hair was too fine for that to work. Out of desperation I finally looped a 4" long piece of 3M NexCare mulitpore tape around the lower back strap (you can use white athletic tape too), then ran the tail end down the back of my neck. Finally at the bottom of the tape I put another 2" piece of tape horizontally and on the middle/back (nape) of my neck, thereby securing the vertical tape. To sum up, basically all I did was stick the back strap of the headgear to the back of my neck with a strip of tape. I'd take a picture but I don't have that setup anymore.
Shave your neck if you have to. If you've got long hair, just split it to the sides in two bunches and proceed. You don't have to replace the tape down the back of your neck every day (I used to replace that about once every two weeks), but obviously you do have to replace horizontal piece that sticks to your neck every night. Works like a charm for men or women, however is a PITA to do every night... but, hey, it works. BTW, Supine sleeping made my back strap slide up.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Straps sliding on Dreamwear under nose mask
I have only been using my Dream ware mask for 4 nights so far. I have the same issue with the straps riding up and the frame falling forward on my head.
I'm told that indicates I need the large frame. The fit pack I purchased comes with the Med frame and use my buy the Large or small separate if you find you need it.
If you received your equipment from a DME thru your insurance company you can ask tell them what is happening and ask that they replace the Med frame with the one indicated for you.
I didn't use insurance and have found I'm on my own and must purchase the large frame myself.
I have been adjusting the sliding straps and frame when my nose mask leaks and wakes me. I can't sleep very long on my side as the mask ends up leaking or I get a sore nose from it pushing against the underside of it. Not sure I want to spend the money on another frame for this mask or look for a different mask solution. Ideally I would like to have different masks I could use when one or the other irritates my nose or face.

I added a second head gear, purchased inexpensively on Ebay, below the first head gear and tightened both head gears a bit.
I also added a very small ponytail above the top head gear. Everything stays in place.
Do a Dreamwear search on this forum and you will find alternative methods successful for others.

Re: Straps sliding on Dreamwear under nose mask
Hi, I read something on another post with the person saying the same thing, having the strap ride up the back of their neck. I use the Dreamwear headset and really like it. The suggestion was to get a self adhesive Velcro pad and attach it to the strap. Use the fuzzy felt surface one. It adds some resistance while lying against your hair. My head strap slides a little bit. I think as my headset gets older and stretches I may try using the Velcro pad myself.
