Philips Respironics REMstar Auto A Flex

Post by sirguy77 » Tue Jun 14, 2016 11:02 pm

I'm having a problem with the air pressure. I have no air pressure when I put on the nose mask. However, when the mask is off, the pressure is strong flowing. It's the reverse of what I want it to do. Any suggestions? I have the Philips Respironics REMstar Auto A Flex model.

what happens when you take the mask off is totally meaningless, the machine is programmed to create a specific pressure, it does that by creating enough airflow to raise the pressure against the built in leak rate of the mask. when you take the mask off, there's no resistance, so the pressure drops to zero, and the machine ramps up to full speed, trying to maintain the pressure. when you put the mask on, the blower slows *way* down.

you need to figure out *which* of the *many* Philips Respironics REMstar Auto A Flex model you have, and if it has an SD card, get some software, like sleepyhead, to read the data stored on it.

Good advise above. Your machine may be set to default pressures starting at 4 cmH2O. It would help if you could check what your settings are. A low pressure setting can feel like you're not getting enough air. Increasing the minimum pressure and/or turning off the ramp function can quickly solve this problem.

Here is a link on how to access those settings. Please record the existing settings before making changes. http://www.apneaboard.com/pr-system-one ... structions
