Hi All,
First time post. Please be very kind - I have been trawling the forums and now fell more confused than before.
I have hired a Phillips Dreamstation Auto for one month before committing to purchase. Which machine will be the topic of another post.
I am heading out to a friends farm this weekend and his farmhouse runs off Solar Power. He has asked me what would the power consumption of the machine be to ensure I don't drain the batteries.
I believe I can disconnect the humidifier and turn off the heated tubing to conserve power. My current Auto Settings is between 4-16cm. I average around 14cm (i think ) and use the machine for anywhere between 4-7hours per night.
Can anybody help me understand how many watts I would be using per night using these settings.
So confused.Thanks.

Re: Phillips Dreamstation Power Usage
The power supply is rated at 80 watts. To be conservative bump that up to 100 watts. Multiply it by the hours of use and you should have total watts used per night.

SpO2 96+% and holding...

that's worst case scenario, with the blower running at max pressure and heated hose and humidifier running.HoseCrusher wrote:The power supply is rated at 80 watts. To be conservative bump that up to 100 watts. Multiply it by the hours of use and you should have total watts used per night.

I've never seen anything from respironics about how much their stuff uses, but if you take the resmed battery guide and figure a basic cpap, no humidification, no heated hose, and 16cm pressure, it says 15AH @12 volts for a nights sleep. that's with a 50% safety margin. 1.23 amps @12v current draw.Davem111 wrote:I have hired a Phillips Dreamstation Auto for one month before committing to purchase. doing the math, 15AH @12v = 180 watthours.

Why don't you buy a watt meter from amazon and measure it yourself? Their best selling digital watt meter costs less than $20 and you can see how the power use varies with humidifier, heated hose, and at different pressures. You could simulate use at pressure by temporarily raising the machine's minimum pressure - wear the mask while testing or the machine will keep turning off unless you disable auto-stop.

Re: Phillips Dreamstation Power Usage
This is my usage report for my previous model. With an average pressure of 14, you'll be higher, but certainly under an amp if you run directly from 12 volts, but double that with an inverter. In watts that's between 12 and 24. I run on solar power all summer and the power use is maybe 5% of my day's use.
