Having trouble sleeping on my left side. Weird feeling.
Having trouble sleeping on my left side. Weird feeling.
I have noticed, for the 3 years i've been on ASV, that I have occasional trouble sleeping on my left side.
Last night I got up to use the restroom, came back to bed and tried to sleep on my left side. I started to get an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. Not pain, it didn't hurt, just an uncomfortable anxiety-like feeling in my chest. I felt it get progressively more intense, but still no pain. I rolled over onto my right side and it went away within a minute.
Does anyone else experience anything like this?

It could be nothing, but talk to your doctor or a cardiologist right away... there may be some heart problem going on. There are some emerging research showing issues with ASV usage and Left Ventricle Ejection Factor <45 - LVEF. Search the forum for LVEF for more info.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

the one study that raised those issues is currently heavily disputed for being run very poorly.Sir NoddinOff wrote:It could be nothing, but talk to your doctor or a cardiologist right away... there may be some heart issues going on. This is interesting from the link you posted, palerider:
We are anxiously awaiting the results of two ongoing randomized clinical trials that may help to settle some of the issues raised by SERVE-HF: ADVENT-HF, with a planned enrollment of about 850 patients with HFrEF and either obstructive sleep apnea or CSA using an advanced technology ASV device including automatic end-expiratory titration,24 and the Remede device trial, enrolling approximately 150 patients with predominantly CSA.25 The latter is a transvenously placed phrenic nerve stimulator activating diaphragm-generating negative—not positive—intrathoracic pressure to prevent CSA.26 and 27 However, neither of these trials are powered to determine whether patients with CSA undergoing active intervention experience significantly better survival compared with control subjects, but a favorable effect on cardiovascular survival may nonetheless emerge.

Thanks for posting that Palerider. That SAVE study has already got me all riled up so let me calm down.
But this now just boggles the mind.
For example, quoted from the link you provided:
"The particular ASV device used in SERVE-HF was a first-generation model no longer manufactured by the sponsor. This technology may have applied pressures that were too low for some patients and excessive for others, with adverse cardiovascular consequences."
and then this ...
"in some patients excessive ventilation or pressures may have contributed to excess mortality"
My God, it is unbelievable. So in fact there is a good chance that those first generation ASV models actually led to some deaths.

You should get it checked out .... that's a common heart symptom which may or may not be of significance. But the sooner you look into it, the better it will be should it actually be of significance.icipher wrote:I have noticed, for the 3 years i've been on ASV, that I have occasional trouble sleeping on my left side.

Were your PVCs a while back ever attributed to anything specific?

Re: Having trouble sleeping on my left side. Weird feeling.
This is probably not the answer for your situation, it relates to my, somewhat similar, situation: I have difficulty sleeping on my right side due to a 'frozen' shoulder that causes frequent pain when in certain positions. OTOH, early on I felt somewhat uneasy sleeping on my left side - this was related, I believe, to that position had me facing the edge of the bed and if I changed position them changed back to the left facing attitude I often felt I was too close to the edge. Over time I have largely overcome the sensation but every once in a while, it crops up again.icipher wrote:I have noticed, for the 3 years i've been on ASV, that I have occasional trouble sleeping on my left side.
