is mid to low 60 oxygen good or bad?
My sleep study report said my oxygen level was 64 percent. is that bad ?
And to times I was in the hospital it was close to 64 as well.
I apologize if I sound dumb. I have likely had lots of brain damage due to low oxygen in my life.
So I think I have a reason to be hard to think.

not much lower than that puts you in the 'at risk for sudden death' category.cpapdude1 wrote:My sleep study report said my oxygen level was 64 percent. is that bad ?

That level is really bad. I'd get an O2 monitor and see a doctor until it goes up to normal.

definite flags being raised. How much harm depends on duration of events.
Without question I would monitor O2 and see a Dr. ASAP as has already been suggested.

Some say you should start getting concerned if your oxygen gets below 90%.
Default low ox alarm on some devices is 85%.
Anything in the 60's is definitely BAD.

During my initial study, my oxygen dropped to 63% and they put me on oxygen to complete the study.

Re: is mid to low 60 oxygen good or bad?
64% oxygen is deathly sick oxygen levels. Its brain damage and heart damage level oxygen levels.
For your information, anything under 88% oxygen saturation in the blood is considered a formal medical emergency and you should be in the ER, getting admitted to find out WHY your oxygen is so low.
If your doctor did not inform you 64% blood oxygen is Godawful, I'd argue that was medical malpractice. Somebody offline in your real world medical care should already made you clearly aware that 64% oxygen is awful, is a medical emergency, will kill you...hell you might already be lucky youre not dead already.

Re: is mid to low 60 oxygen good or bad?
Normal is 95% and above. "In the 90s" is not normal. 97% is "normal." 92% or 93% is "in the nineties" and it wont kill you but its far from ideal and you are likely to be suffering from shortness of breath, dizziness, poor sleep, depression like symptoms.
Be more specific in the future when you make claims. "In the 90s" is too generalized.

you're welcome to your so called "opinion", I'll go by what the doctors and nurses in the ER, and the CCU were concerned about when I was in the hospital recently.MrGrumpy wrote:Normal is 95% and above. Re: is mid to low 60 oxygen good or bad?
What is normal? Perhaps the question should be "How do the readings compare with what is normally expected for
the person being tested?"
A fit healthy person should have an oxygen saturation level above 95%. But results are not considered low until
below 90% and most monitor default alarms are set to 90%. Results between 90% to 95% may be "normal" for some
individuals with previous dx of lung, circulatory problems, or smokers.
There are many variables in the measurement and readings of pulse ox, is it artifact, where is the device placed, is the
person sedated?
Remember to look at changes over a period of time unless there are other symptoms that need emergency evaluation.
