Sleep Mask with cpap?
Long story short, I got transferred to a new job site & started working nights
now the issue I have is... when I sleep I like to sleep in complete darkness... this was accomplished with the following;
Amara View Full Face CPap Mask & the Glo To Sleep - 2000 how-ever I've begun to find that now when I'm at camp (I work on oil rigs) I tend to toss and turn more then when I'm at home, so I had to go back to my ol' trusty Quattro... down side to this guy is because of how high it comes on my forhead I can't use my GTS-2000, I've tried some other masks that I can get to "fit" between the opening but they either cause the nose bit to not seal nicely or the sleep mask is to flimsy.
So I'm looking for advice on one (or more? lol) of the following areas
1) A full face (mouth and nose) mask for 'active' sleepers that doesn't come super high on the nose so I can continue to use my GTS-2000
2) a sleep mask that will fit nicely between the opening on my Quattro (sleep mask NEEDS to have eye pockets)
Thanks in advance!

Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
This works for me, a ResMed P10 pillow mask https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... dgear.html and a cloth mouth cover viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112758&st=0&sk=t&sd ... i#p1086296
For years I thought I needed a full face mask to compensate for my mouth exhaling and leaks, but the combination of pillows and headband has proven to work better (for me).
A combination such as this would allow you to wear anything you like over your eyes.

Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
I would have recommended the View based on the subject line, but you've already tried that. Are you sure you have to have an FFM? I thought I had to as well when I started. Given your situation it might be worth experimenting with a nasal mask, or nasal pillows.
I'll second Jay's recommendation for the P10 Pillows. I've only been doing this for 2 months, and I've already gravitated from a FFM, to a Nasal Mask, to Nasal Pillows. I also thought there would be no way I could do a nasal mask of any kind, but I was wrong. With a chin strap (or the Papcap - still experimenting), I have very low, or no mouth leaks. The P10 Pillows are very comfortable, more forgiving of movement than any other mask I've tried, and of course completely clear of the top of your nose. The mask seal is superb. I can even sleep on my stomach with this mask.

Have ever tried the Innomed/RespCare Hybrid?
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/RespCa ... -Mask.html
ResMed makes a similar mask and calls it the Liberty
https://www.cpap.com/cpap-masks/hybrid-cpap-mask.php
I usually suggest people start with the Innomed because it comes with 3 sizes of everything you might need especially the cushions.
The Liberty you have to decide ahead of time on cushion size.

Thanks Jay & Linuxman (nice name btw, I'ma a CentOS guy myself haha'),linuxman wrote:I would have recommended the View based on the subject line, but you've already tried that. I've tried a nasal mask + chinstrap / tape in the past, sadly I've never had any luck with them... I tend to be a mouth breather as I find my nose is always congested (I've also tried using a neti pot... works for the first few hours of a night allowing me to fall asleep but after that... I was awake until I used the pot again... I've also tried just a mouth mask but when I did, my AHI went up... the only 'hail marry' for me is a FFM sadly (or hybrid haha)
Actually I haven' given the two you suggest a shot... I'll look into them as well, thanks Pugsy!Pugsy wrote:Have ever tried the Innomed/RespCare Hybrid?

Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
I can't think of any other full face mask that won't be up on the nose and get in the way of the eye mask.
Now maybe some of them could maybe be worn a bit lower on the nose and still seal...I dunno. I have essentially no experience with any full face mask except the Amara View and the Innomed Hybrid.
Maybe one of the other forum members has an idea about a full face mask that can be worn low enough on the nose and still work well enough to stay sealed.
And I have zero experience with eye masks so I am no help there. The fact that you apparently need a deep pocket for the eye part is obviously a significant factor but maybe there is one out there that has a good pocket that doesn't come down quite so far on the cheeks/nose area.

Consider making the ROOM dark.
Aluminum foil is opaque and cheap--tape it directly to the glass.

That is me right now... so simple yet never even thought of it haha'
Only kicker is removing it and putting it on every time but... at least it'd work
Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
Fair enough. FFM then I guess. The F20 isn't too bad in terms of eye interference, but there probably will be some. I think best bet is the suggest to just make the room dark .CavemanSean wrote: Thanks Jay & Linuxman (nice name btw, I'ma a CentOS guy myself haha'),

I spend a lot of quality time with CentOS as well - I use it (rebuilt for different processors) in embedded projects that I work on. I dig your avatar with the AR.

Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
Since you live in Northern Alberta, the summertime daylight hours are very long. That would create a problem even if you worked “normal” hours.
Instead of the mask, you might want to try pulling the blanket over your head. It’s not recommended for the general population, but since your air is pumped in from the outside, you don’t have to worry about CO2.

Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
Where do you come up with this? What do you think the vents are for and why it's important not to block them. The vents, which help to prevent CO2 buildup, have to not be blocked so no covers around the vents.D.H. wrote:Instead of the mask, you might want to try pulling the blanket over your head. Only kicker is... I like to sleep when it's cool out ;D even when it's -50°c (-58°f for you Americans... and yes, there have been times it's been that cold up here...) the most I'll toss on is the top sheet, lol...D.H. wrote:Since you live in Northern Alberta, the summertime daylight hours are very long. Middle of summer, I usually have a big ass bowl of ice and a fan going + the rooms AC' hahaha
Re: Sleep Mask with cpap?
I just use a clean black sock, and tuck the ends in my mask straps... feels nice and soft.CavemanSean wrote: down side to this guy is because of how high it comes on my forhead I can't use my GTS-2000, I've tried some other masks that I can get to "fit" between the opening but they either cause the nose bit to not seal nicely or the sleep mask is to flimsy.
