Best portable APAP?

Post by robo2084 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 12:49 am

I know there isn't a perfect portable solution out there, but I am curious what portable unit people like best. I've heard concerns that many of them are noisy, not sure if that's true. I was waiting for the Resmed mini but I am skeptical that it will be on the market soon.

Somebody said it will be released at the end of June. In the meantime, enter the sweepstakes and win one, along with a gift card. https://airmini.resmed.com/

I've never seen or tried a compact unit, but my guess is that the smaller machines have a smaller blower motor which has to run at a higher rpm in order to maintain pressure. This is probably why the small units are noisier compared to the larger units with larger motor.

welll, yes and no.

the resmed s9/air10 blower is about half the size of the respironics m/s1 blowers, yet it's quieter.

being smaller, it's also more responsive, which is why they can do FOT instead of the slow pressure pulses that the respironics do.
