I am to the point with my new set up that I actually feel better with the CPAP ON!
I didn't think that would EVER be the case.
If you are fighting with your system do NOT give up.
If I can get to this point I an sure everyone can!

That's great to hear!
Good for you, Kris! It's certainly worth the struggle and adjustments when you can see good results, isn't it? I truly think that the right mask is half the battle. I was lucky in that I felt better the very first morning after using cpap despite waking up often to deal with a leaky "first mask". I saw a big difference in my getting really comfortable with this therapy when I finally found the masks that suited me best. That can be a lot of trial and error. My personal favorites are the Breeze with nasal pillows, and the Activa nasal mask.
I know! Isn't it amazing that when you first start this journey, you think you will never make it one whole night with all the stuff on your face and the air blowing and the tubes flying and the cleaning and watering and whatever else this "thing" has to throw you?
I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would sleep with a mask on all night because it took me 6 weeks to do it. Now, after 3 months Wednesday I feel as if it is part of me and even if I take a nap, I put it on. I feel so much better than I did before and I cannot imagine not using it.
Great to hear that you have conquered also.

napping with cpap
Me too, JudyAnn! I never, never lie down for a nap (hardly ever need one anymore, thank goodness) without "hooking up". After all, if one feels the need for a nap, what's the point of trying to take a nap without being able to breathe? How refreshing would that be?and even if I take a nap, I put it on
I read where a cpap user took her cpap to the hospital. A nurse was surprised that the woman intended to use her cpap in the hospital room after recovery from surgery. The nurse said, "But you only need that when you sleep at night, don't you?" The woman told the nurse that the position of the sun had nothing to do with her throat collapsing.
Sometimes I wonder how some people become nurses. No offense to the good ones out there.
I had surgery about 2 weeks before I got my machine but I told the anestheologist about it and was lucky that nothing happened. I did stay overnight but did not sleep well as usual (before xpap) but I was nervous about it once I knew I had SA.
I hardly take a nap on weekends anymore but I have - say once or twice but before xpap, it was every weekend, Sat. & Sun. so it is an improvement. I am sure when I lose this xtra 80 pounds and get my poor tired 64 year old knees fixed, I'll feel like a youngin' again.
and I will really feel better when I semi-retire and quit working 5 days a week, so far away from home (27 miles one way).
So a lot of other things factor into me being tired. Everything aside, I have noticed a tremendous improvement from before and my next hurdle is to lose weight so wish me luck. I will need all I can get!
