Masks for dry eye sufferers

Post by maxytaxy » Thu Jun 15, 2017 5:47 pm

Does anyone have dry eye and found a mask that vents down and not up toward the eyes? I used the Amara View for a while but I'm looking for a new mask. I breathe with both mouth and nose so I really need something that covers both, although one day I guess I'll try a nasal mask...

Don't know of any mask that vents up toward the eyes. Most vent straight out. If you have the wrong size mask it could be leaking around your nose and into your eyes.

I had a similar issue with the Amara View even when I tried a smaller mask. I ended up switching to a different mask. Do you need a full face mask? The ResMed P10 pillow mask works extremely well.

Thanks for the replies so far--yes, I think you are right LSAT part of this was leakage. But the Amara View seemed to have vents at the top (if I remember correctly) and did not vent straight down, which would probably be best and is what I'm hoping the folks on this forum might be able to shed some light on. (I didn't have a CPAP for almost a year and a half but I just bought one used from a friend and I am going to try out the ResMed Airfit F10 it came with and see if that works better for me--it looks like it has better venting but I guess I'll find out soon!)

There's a problem just now with registration and it may take a couple of days to 'take'.

You have been posting here for 2.5 months and you haven't noticed that guests are allowed to post? What a genius. Maybe if you would stop posting 8-10 times a day and take the time to observe for a while you may learn something.....

I use the Simplus full face mask by Fisher and Pakel. It vents out and makes a good seal that does not leak out towards my eyes at all. I highly recommend it.

If the mask is working for you overall and you are just getting a little leaking, consider getting a Walgreens Sleep mask. They are about $8. The goal is to have a mask where the eye pieces cup so that they are not pressing on your eyes. ANY sleep mask that cups over the eyes will work of course. The salon type masks do not. Put it on after putting your mask on. If you had it under the mask, it just breaks the seal.
