=======actually you dont pay anything for the Rx if you read the ad
and doesnt insurance limit how much can be charged
which is why you are forced to use approved DMEs if you want insurance to pay
the real rip off are sleep labs and their needless overnight studies

Was reading a bit over there. The offer is for those who have had a previous prescription. If one had not been diagnosed, there's a link to click for what I presume is a home sleep study kit. Didn't go there to verify. The company does have a link to check your insurance coverage. Guessing many insurances won't cover an online vendor. I have a question for those who might know. If a buyer is not purchasing through their insurance, there then is no price cap, right? I thought the price caps were by the insurance companies, not some industry oversight. I didn't care enough to follow it through and apply because they said they would then mail a form to be completed and returned, but I'm wondering if the form is to give them permission to get prior medical records. Anyhow, if while the Rx is free one would have had to pay an office visit to get a new script, or one doesn't currently have a doctor, and if that savings is not negated by a higher machine cost (I didn't do any comparisons), there may be some who could benefit. Seems a whole lot of "ifs". Not sure how many will take this offer, but bet it's getting them sales on the diagnostic kits.

I recently met my deductible (after 3 years of not reaching it), so I was considering them for cpap supplies. They confirmed my insurance, but they are out of network, and apparently my deductible for out of network is higher, so I would need to spend another $250 to reach that deductible. Since that would be my only out of network purchase, there was no point to continue. I will find a local place or go back to ebay.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Now here's a real rip-off
You are correct. The price cap is only for those with insurance and insurance that easy breathe might work with. If someone is self pay...there is no price cap.kteague wrote:Was reading a bit over there. The offer is for those who have had a previous prescription. If a person's insurance isn't an insurance that easybreathe has a contract with ...there is no price cap.
And yes....I fully expect that easybreathe would need access to medical records if available. The will/would need to contact your doctor and get the RX for cpap from the doctor for you...duh...cpap.com will do that now too for free.
If you don't have a doctor or already diagnosed then there are other options like the home study choices.
Looks like they offer a home sleep study for $299 if your doctor will write a script for the home sleep study or for $100 more they can get their doctors to write a script for the home study. Looks like the home study is a ResMed ApneaLink Plus with Easy Sense Technology...whatever that does but it does appear to offer more than just a finger tip pulse ox.
And if you buy a machine from them they will give you $100 off the price of the machine since you bought the home study.
I did check their prices for a few items. Masks seemed to be right in line with most other online vendors which is to be expected since ResMed and Respironics (and maybe the others) all seem to dictate MSRP to be posted.
Machine prices are a little bit higher ...around that $100 figure they happen to offer if you buy their home sleep study...how much of a coincidence is that... Which brings the price down to pretty much again the MSRP for online vendors.
They appear to file some insurance in lieu of payment or at least work with filing insurance which is something cpap.com doesn't do.
They are NOT a Medicare provider and just like cpap.com they can't bill Medicare and if a person has Medicare they essentially are self pay with no way to get reimbursement.
They do appear to be right up front with their policies but people need to really read to see exactly what is covered or isn't and how it works.
Some items can be returned within 30 days but no refunds are given...store credit only. If insurance has paid for something...no returns.
They have apparently a mask guarantee that can be purchased for $24.95 ....if it doesn't work out you can return it and get your money back (less shipping costs)..30 day limit....other wise it's a store credit.
From what I see they don't price gouge horribly and their policies are clearly stated and fairly reasonable for a place of business that will work with insurance and are willing to wait on insurance for some of their money. They will expect a person to pay their copay right up front though. That is also clearly stated.
If someone wants to buy something from them...read, read, read all the policies so that there are no unhappy surprises.

Re: Now here's a real rip-off
I ran into a bit of an exception regarding the limit or the allowed amount my insurance authorized. The manager of my local Apria branch put in writing the total cost of the machine. Which I wanted to know before taking the auto S9 home, if my responsibility with insurance was higher than paying out of pocket online, I would pay out of pocket. My insurance covers 50%. The rental period was 3 months, total cost was about $10 higher than quoted which I gladly paid.xxyzx wrote:LSAT wrote: =======

About a year later, Apria, billed the insurance with several modifiers, the total cost approved went of north of $2,000.
The manager stated will not discuss billing issues, I'm told never come back. I did not get nasty but the manager sure was.
Short version, I got a call from Apria's regional manager, Apria was satisfied, my insurance paid $1000, I paid $400 my 50% of the written agreement with the branch manager. I was given the name and number of a person in the local branch to contact, but never contacted that branch again, decided to drive an extra 60 miles to use a different branch.
