ResMed Mirage Activa & Mirage SoftGel to be Discontinued

Have been using the Mirage Activa LT for quite some time now.

Went to my DME to order 6 cushions for it this afternoon.

Was told no problem, but after 10-10-17 ResMed would no longer offer that mask & I would have to switch to something else.

Told girl: How can ResMed discontinue such a popular mask?
After she tried repeatedly to reassure me that was a "fact" - because they had been told so in an E-Mail from ResMed, I asked if she could give me a copy of that E-Mail (thinking that would never happen).

She immediately went into a back room & came out with that copy.

It was not actually an E-Mail but rather a Notice that seemed to be sent to all DMEs.

Anyway, that Notice did in fact state that the Mirage Activa AND the Mirage SoftGel would be discontinued 10-10-17.

The Notice went on to instruct the DME to "Please see the chart below for alternative mask options for your patients."

One of those options was the Mirage Activa LT - which is the mask I am using.
The other 2 alternatives provided by ResMed were the Mirage FX & the AirFit N20

After I pointed out that "my" mask was not being discontinued by ResMed, she seemed insulted that I had corrected her. No problem. Tact is not my strong suit. Hell, it is not even in my vocabulary.

So, I went on to say: "Now you won't have to needlessly scare someone else by telling them their mask is being discontinued."

I am sure I am now her favorite customer! NOT!

She appears to be a fairly new employee as she kept looking in a notebook with all kinds of highlighted passwords & codes "I" could easily see as she entered my order into her computer.

I considered cementing my "favorite customer" status further by pointing out to her how she was exposing the company to being hacked by willy nilly exposing those passwords & codes publically.

But then, I figured I had done my part & let it slide.

If you are using either of the 2 masks that will be discontinued 10-10-17, you may want to consider "stocking up" on them now.

Thanks for the info. I use the regular Activs and DMEs said they don't carry it any longer.

Now I know why. One said the mask was discontinued and the other said that THEY had discontinued carrying it.

I have to find a new mask after using the Activa for 13 years.
