Can the ClimateLineAir be TOTALLY submerged in water?

Post by StuUnderPressure » Sat Sep 16, 2017 10:52 am

Can the ClimateLineAir for the ResMed AirCurve 10 VAUTO be TOTALLY submerged in water?

That was specifically noted by ResMed as acceptable for the ClimateLine for the S9 AutoSet, but I can't seem to find documentation of that for the ClimateLineAir.

Their documentation says,
Cleaning
You should clean the air tubing weekly as described.
1. Wash the air tubing in warm water using mild detergent.
Do not wash in a dishwasher or washing machine.
2. Rinse the air tubing thoroughly and allow to dry, out of
direct sunlight and/or heat.

https://www.resmed.com/epn/dam/document ... lo_eng.pdf
I take that to mean submerge it. There is no caution against submerging.

THANKS

I had already seen what you linked to.

But, with the SlimeLine tubing for the S9 AutoSet, ResMed did specifically state that it could be totally submerged in water as opposed to just washing it in water.

Yea, Yea, semantics!

But, I submerge my SlimeLine tubing for a couple of hours "when" I do clean it.

You are probably right in that I can do the same with the ClimeateLineAir.
But, I only have 1 such tubing right now with no backup - hence my reluctance.

On the rare occasion my heated tubing needs washing, yeah, it gets dunked.
But I don't soak anything--our hard water leaves ugly white film everywhere.
I ruined a pair of Swift FX pillows that way.
I only soak casseroles and my feet--but not at the same time!

When I first started treatment, I would submerge my hose in water to wash it. I no longer wash it unless I am recovering from bronchitis. When I do, I steralize the hose by soaking it in a vinegar solution, then washing with soap and water. I have never had any problems with the hose which is over two years old.

That is exactly the information I wanted - & from an AirCurve 10 VAUTO user to boot.

Yep, you can immerse the whole thing. Rinse well and make sure the contact area is dry before plugging in. I use Dawn. I use vinegar for brother's hose because something about Dawn bugs him and since he likes pickle flavor, it works for him (plastics absorb the odors of cleaners which is why you don't soak more than about 5 minutes).

Nope!

Not about whether to wash or how often to wash - but rather, if you do wash, can you totally submerge it in water.

Just considering washing it before using it for the 1st time - especially since the DME did handle the hose with her bare hands.

"I" don't know where her hands have been.
Maybe she had just manually checked her sex before I got there.

If she wasn't spitting down it, then you're over-reacting.
