Hello Katherine,

I use a F&P HC604 and I can say it's not noisy at all. I am very sensitive to environmental noise but I can hardly hear the CPAP operating.

Regards,

David

During my cpap years, I've owned:

1. 1ea Remstar M series Auto w/cflex.
2. 1ea Remstar Classic Pro w/cflex
3. 3ea Remstar Classic Auto's (without cflex).
4. 1ea Remstar Classic Auto w/Cflex
5. P&B 420S
6. P&B 420E
7. Devilbiss 9001 Auto
8. Resmed Spirit AutoSet

The Remstar Auto Classic remains the quietest machine, the new M series Auto comes in a close 2nd followed by the Pro followed by the 420x followed by the Devilbiss with the Spirit being the most noisy. The newer S8 is supposed to be noisier than the Spirit was so it would win the most noisy award from me.

How much noise a machine makes from one person to another depends on your pressure setting, if an auto it may even depend on your SDB events that trigger the machine to run at higher pressures.

For me, COMFORT and noise factors where very important considerations but the auto titration algorithm was the most important. I cannot get to sleep with noise, the Cflex feature found only on the Remstars is unsurpassed in my opinion, that feature alone would make my decision especially if it was an autopap.

industral ear plugs (the ones that look like candy corn) are the best thing for night noise that I know of. Me and my GF both use them....every night.

I'd also vote for the Remstar classic style. I have the Pro 2 and it is very quiet. I also have a ResMed S8 and it is much louder than the Remstar using the same mask.

Hi Katherine,

The Respironics BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex I'm using is very quiet. But...I'm a big believer in "luck of the draw."

You've probably already found these topics about machines and noise:

P.S. Speaking of luck, Carla is lucky to have you as a friend pulling for her to get good treatment.

<<Speaking of luck, Carla is lucky to have you as a friend pulling for her to get good treatment.>>

it goes both ways which is nice. we had a good long phone conversation about all of this this am and she downloaded her data from the last two nights......

talked about GERD, asthma, allergies her recent upper respiratory infection. all kinds of things.

i still vote for 'all of the above'.
