CPAP PRO II

Does anyone have any experiences with the CPAP PRO II made by Stevenson Industries?

It's been around for a long time...at least before I started therapy over 8 years ago.
And discussed quite a bit back when I first started therapy but overall consensus wasn't all that positive.

Not nearly as expensive. I have actually used the TapPap extensively for probably over a year and it's a nice little mask. The mouth guard takes a bit of getting used to but not all that hard.

Chiming in very late here, but I concur with Pugsy that the TapPap does the same thing for less money. However, you do have to have solid and relatively straight teeth, as the mouthpiece molds to your uppers. I'm curious whether the "No Mask" would work better for crooked-toothed people and bridge wearers. They don't give much detail on the website. I do think the "mouth breather" thing can be a red herring. I thought I was a mouth breather before being diagnosed with apnea, but when air is being blown into your nose, you adapt to a different way of breathing, like using a snorkel. Some mouth breathing is probably because you aren't getting enough air, and that's what the masks help you with, whether they cover your mouth or not. I've used a TapPap for about 4 years, no mouth breathing, and it it even works when I have a stuffed up nose from a cold.

Same question as everyone else, I guess... how has your CPAP Pro 2 experience been? I've spent 7 weeks now trying many combinations of mask, headgear, chinstraps, etc., and can't get decent results -- just lots of leaks, pain, noise, you name it. The Pro 2 looks like exactly what I would build if I were going to build my own, but it's pretty pricey with no opportunity to return if it doesn't work.

Well, I tried the TAP PAP mask. It fails miserably - feels good (although I'm not crazy about the overhead tube), but as soon as I go to sleep, my mouth relaxes, it leaks badly, and wakes me up. So I shut my mouth again (I use a chinstrap, but the air pressure inflates my mouth like a balloon and unseals everything), go to sleep, and it's rinse-lather-repeat. I thought I might be able to mold a better fit, but another mouthpiece is $27 plus shipping, so I'm just going to return the mask (free return "insurance" was $5; great deal). Then I'll either try to get along with the PA-10 which I'm using now, or spring for the PRO II if I can be persuaded that it has a better chance of working than the TAP PAP. Molding to both upper and lower teeth seems like it might be better, but I'm not sure it's worth a $179 gamble.

I've been using the CPAP Pro and CPAP Pro II for at least ten years. It's the best CPAP device I've ever worn. I occasionally have issues with leakage, but usually the issue is my fault (caused by careless "installation").

The CPAP Pro mask has been around for several years. It wasn't new when I started cpap back in 2009.

I used the CPAP PRO (original) for a couple of years. It was my first mask. It trained me to keep my mouth shut and was very comfortable for me.

I quit using it when they changed one of the parts where it was less flexible and denied that they had done so (I had an old and a new part and could see the "improvement"!). This made it unusable for me at that point.

It is also an expensive mask as the many replacement parts are not cheap.

I would probably try the newer model if my current mask stopped working for me.
