Hello,
I had my second sleep study last night. I thought the soreness on the side of my tongue was minor, so I didn't mention it to tech. It is still sore now. I use a nose mask. I have a Respironics REM Master Plus M series. Any suggestions? Is my mask too tight? I slept on that side of my face last night. I'd like to learn to sleep on my back but if that doesn't work, I may sleep on the other side of my face tonight.
Thanks,
Thomas

No response here but here is how the issue went away. First night on CPAP at home I was able to easily train myself to sleep on my back. Sleeping on the left side of my face was causing me to bite the left side of my tongue.
I am amazed how different I feel. This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in the past 15-20 years.

Thomas, sorry we missed your post and didn't reply. Anyway, welcome to the forum.
Over time, you might find your ideal comfort zone for sleeping. Sometimes I can feel my rough teeth irritate the side of my tongue, but not too often.
Sounds like you are doing okay, and things will only get better.

Tongue biting
Glad it's not still an issue for you. Don't know why but I've been biting my tongue in my sleep lately too. Even before I had to worry about mouth leaks, I've always positioned my tongue to the front of the roof of my mouth to keep my lower jaw better positioned to avoid TMJ pain. Worked out in my favor because it forms a good seal, but lately I've been biting it. No fun to wake up to that.

I had almost forgotten that I had that issue when I started.
I think it just takes time to find just the right position of the tongue and not to clamp the jaw down. It should get better.
I remember putting some ambosol on the sides of my tongue to keep from further irritating it during the day. Seems like when I hurt it, I would rub it against my teeth while awake making it worth.

Tongue biting is back!
Thank you all so much for your replies!
I actually started biting again! (left side).
Last night was actually a little better. The Sleep Study person called me to follow up and she had never heard such a thing! She actually said, boy I get the wierd ones! She had nothing to offer! So I told her I would figure out a way around it!
I am just going to try to keep it on the roof and to the right.
I am very happy otherwise!! My wife is happy too, she said I do not snore!
Work is fantastic too. I never felt better.!
God Bless,
Thomas
