Cleaning ResMed Carrying Case

Post by happybreather » Sat Jun 16, 2018 10:06 am

Does anyone know the cleaning instructions for cleaning the ResMed carrying case? The outside appears to be nylon, and there is a stuffing material inside the interior partitions. Can this go in a washing machine?

I dont know the cleaning instruction from the mfg. But I would not put it in the Washer machine. How dirty is it?

I have never washed one so I don't know but I have put them in the dryer on low heat and let them run a bit with a damp towel in the dryer with it to get dust and pet hairs and whatever off of it. They always come out looking brand new.
Now if something actually got spilled in or on it...I have no idea what could be done.

It's pretty dirty. My granddaughter had a little chocolate milkshake accident in it.

To all:

Always keep the carrying case away from children and pets. Always keep it zipped up when in storage (to keep dust away from the inside).

You could probably fill the sink with some hot water and dawn and scrub it down a bit with a dish sponge. I'm not sure that I would put it in the washing machine.

I wouldn't submerge it in water and let it get soaked all the way through, we don't know what the inside stiff piece is made of. May be something like cardboard that shouldn't get wet. Try to hose it off with the kitchen sink spray thing, without soaking it completely. Or a wet rag.

Oops...milkshake...potential for stinky mess too.
In that case I would probably either try hand washing or might even try the delicate cycle on the washer.
If it were me I would probably be thinking that at this point nothing to lose.
I think it would hold up to being treated gently...maybe even not so gently but I would try gentle and cross my fingers.
I think they are sturdier than we might think.

Which ResMed carrying case? I think I might have a spare you could have should the cleaning cause it to fall apart.
I think the one I have is the S9 case...if I still have it.
You can find replacement cases easily enough on EBay or whatever.

I stuck an S9 case into the washing machine on cold with towels and Tide and then line dried it outside. It came out fine. I still have an older style washing machine (not a front loader). I see no reason why the Airsense case would be any different. Just make sure to wash it with some other stuff.

What often determines whether an equipment bag is machine washable or not is whether it has laminate or leather pieces. Laminate will sometimes separate in washing machine from the agitation or detergent. Neither S9 nor Airsense has any laminate. The only leatherlike thing on the Resmed bag is the logo tag. Otherwise, it's ripstop and plastic - the inner linings are a flat plastic and the same foam inner lining that I use on bags to provide support. What I don't know is whether the foam inner liner will tolerate the heat of the dryer long enough for the whole bag to dry. That's why I chose to line dry it.

I'd be afraid to wreck my machine - that thing's big!

If you have a really tiny machine, then probably not, but if you have a standard size machine, it's not a problem. In your case Julie, you have an Intellipap and I haven't seen those bags to see what they are made of. The Respironics and Resmed bags though - they go through the wash just fine.

I would take it into the shower--put the flex sprayer on high, and let 'er rip.
Dawn and a brush as needed. Done this to a moldy soft cooler.
