Distilled water left in hot car
Distilled water left in hot car
I accidentally left a few bottles of distilled water in my boiling hot car for several days before I noticed. Is it still safe to use in my CPAP? I know that drinking bottled water left in a hot car is highly discouraged because of the potential release of BPAs (I’m sure I’m saying that wrong). Does anyone have any knowledge on this before I chuck 5 brand new, 4L bottles of distilled water? Thanks!

Hello:
It was probably delivered to the store that you bought in from in a hot semi-trailer after being stored in a hot warehouse. I would not worry. If you are concerned use it to water your plants. What is the water worth? $10.00?

I think it's made by boiling water into steam and cooling the steam. How much hotter than 212 F do you think it got, if the plastic jug didn't catch fire it's probably Ok!

When will people learn?
Never leave children, pets, bass players and jugs of distilled water in a car, on a hot day, with the windows up.
Not even for a minute.

I wouldn't worry about it, *at all*. I doubt that there's BPAs in any bottled water bottles these days, and you're not going to be drinking it, anyway.Melizza wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 10:37 amI accidentally left a few bottles of distilled water in my boiling hot car for several days before I noticed. I'm pretty sure the distilled water didn't suffer heat stroke...Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 9:30 pmWhen will people learn?

I would not worry about it. Be glad you didn't leave meat, ice cream, butter, or milk in the car!

The issue with BPA being released with heat had to do with boiling water plastic bottles. At temperatures up to dishwasher temps (about 160F) there isn't a problem. And as noted, BPA is being phased out so there's a good chance there is none anyways.

PBA is precursor to polycarbonate plastics
Single use water bottles are more likely Polyethylene terephthalate PET

"Bisphenol A/Boiling point. 428°F/220°C"
Even IF there was any in the container, it would never reach your lungs unless there was a FIRE.
At one time, worrying about BPA was a valid concern.
That time is long past.
