Rash from cpap mask
For the first time in over 10 years I have contracted my first facial rash from my cpap mask. I have a dreamwear ffm. I know it is not a reaction to the mask itself because although it is newer it did not start immediately. I think it was caused by some type of moisture rash, like a sweat rash, heat rash etc.
I started experiencing rain out and around the seal I was feeling irritation on my skin and now I have a rash.
I tried to use creams and keep both my face and mask cleaned daily, but the problem is I am still in my compliance period for a new machine and now I can’t sleep on my machine due to my face being so irritated. I think my face needs a break from the mask so it can clear up within it being further irritated by the mask, but then my compliance won’t be met.
I am at a loss as to what to do at this point, I have never had to do compliance with my past 3 machines. I am not sure what to do abx it this situation.
Suggestions?

Did you just get a new machine? Compliance is only during the first 90 days....

What insurance do you have? You may have already covered any compliance requirements in the first 30 days.
Mask liner...

The one for the Amara View will fit the DreamWear FFM.
Or you could try to make something on your own but it's a bit tricky ...but you can get the idea by looking at what Karen did.
Years ago people put Phillips Milk of Magnesia (the stuff you drink for constipation) on their face and let it dry and it made a fairly effective barrier for those with sensitive skin. Washes off easily the next morning.
I never had the need myself but when I first started therapy people were talking about how much it helped all the time.
We don't talk about it so much now because we have such nice mask liners available but 9 years ago didn't have nearly as nice of mask liners to use.

Re: Rash from cpap mask
I FINALLY resolved the issue of skin irritation! I found an old white COTTON t-shirt (mens) and I cut the hem off (without opening the hem). Cut strips of the hem to fit the straps of the headgear and slid them on covering the ENTIRE strap including the area where the pillow attaches to it. Then I took another short strip, cut two small vertical slits in it and slid it over the nasal prongs. Voila! Not bulky. Not hot. And FREE! Took a very short time for my face to heal and now I don't wake up every night with my face, lip and nose burning.

Could be sensitivity to soap. Try washing with original Dawn, rinse, spray with straight white vinegar to get rid of soap residue, rinse well, let air dry. Wash face with gentle soap. I like Dove's coconut and jasmine bar soap on my rosacea-prone skin, scent disappears in a few mins.

Interesting that this problem arose with a change of machines.
Perhaps turn down the humidity.

For me the rash comes from the rubber backing the does not allow your skin to breathe .... It happened almost immediately ... the Tee shirt trick is something I'm going to try this morning (I work shift work) ... Its a great idea
